    Kimball faced Ft. Morgan during the Gering tournament on Sunday, June 11. The young Legion team was defeated 11-1, but several players made key improvements. Brady Kilgore hit a single then added a triple to the Kimball board. Colton Meilke and Cole Henton each hit a single.     The 2017 Kimball High Boy's Golf Team had a record setting season, and you can expect more of the same for the next two years it would appear. The Longhorns had two tournaments cancelled due to bad weather, but swept through their season with eight wins, including capturing the championships of both the Western Trails and SPVA Conference Tournaments as well as the C-5 District and was just one place shy of going undefeated on the year, finishing runner-up at the State Tournament!     A big weekend of golf is on tap at the Four Winds Golf Course as it’s time once again for the Three person Father’s Day Scramble. Golfers will be teeing off at 12 noon on Saturday and 9 a.m. on Sunday, so open golfers be sure and call the Pro Shop for open golf times.     With further research done on the proposed renovation of the outdoor concession stand under the Kimball High School stadium, the Kimball Board of Education is no closer to making a decision on the matter. Board members asked last month for more information from Building and Grounds Director Gregg Fossand, Superintendent Marshal Lewis and the Building and Grounds Committee on the project.     As Kimball took the field at home Thursday, June 1, the young Legion players didn't seem quite ready for their first game against Bridgeport. Kimball had the better bats than Bridgeport and played good defense but when it came to pitching, the local athletes struggled to find a good rhythm.     Ben Aarestad has been hired as the new Head Football Coach at Kimball High and this past week arrived to start implementing his plans for the program which includes open weight room nights. Coach Aarestad will also serve as Kimball High’s Physical Education teacher and has a Master’s degree in P.E.     Two days after receiving the first of three parvovirus (parvo) vaccinations, given by local veterinarian, Mimi Shaw, one puppy from a recent litter returned to Prairie Animal Hospital showing signs of the deadly virus.
