As a junior in high school at Lincoln East, Chad Wise was offered a full-ride scholarship to play golf at the University of Nebraska. On his way to the signing at the university, Wise was involved in a 34-car pile-up on 70th Street in Lincoln. Wise received injuries to his back and left knee. Superintendent Trevor Anderson’s annual report released at the school board meeting on Monday, Feb. 13, revealed successful NSCAS Performance Data for the 2021-22 school year. Based on proficiency percentages, the English scores for Kimball students in grades 3-8 and 11 were significantly better than the Nebraska state average in five out of the seven grades. Hemingford – Friday’s game in Hemingford was one of those games that in a way you want to just forget about and move on from but we all know you can learn some of your greatest lessons from your most difficult defeats. The Kimball Longhorns girls basketball team hosted their final home game of the season last Tuesday against the Pine Bluffs Hornets. The Longhorns second half shooting drought led the Hornets to victory with a final score of 46-34. The team holds a record of 1-18 and is currently 0-3 in district play. The team is rebuilding stage with the majority of the athletes consisting of underclassman. The Longhorns graduated all five starting members from last season. The Kimball County Commissioners voted on Feb. 7 to sell the High Point Welcome Center of Western Nebraska and adjacent lots. Sealed bids will be accepted until March 17 at 4 p.m. Bids for the property will be opened at 10 a.m. on March 21. The board reserves the right to accept or reject any bid.
