At the Kimball County Commissioners meeting last Tuesday, Feb. 6, County Highway Superintendent Dave Hottell, along with the Commissioners, discussed if that change, from five days at 8 hours to four days at 10 hours, still fits the needs of Kimball County. Potter-Dix Ladies ran right over the Peetz Lady Bull Dogs last Tuesday night with a 51-10 final. The Lady Coyotes finished the first quarter with a 13-4 lead over the Lady Bull Dogs and didn’t stop there, shutting out Peetz 17-0 in the second quarter heading into half-time with a 30-7 lead. A new addition to the community may be on its way to Kimball sooner than you think. Rough weekend for the Potter-Dix Coyotes once again with Friday and Saturday matchups. The Coyotes hosted Garden County Friday night for parents night, and things didn’t really go the way they had planned with the Eagles outscoring the Coyotes 40-13 in the first half. The Coyotes were able to add another 12 points to the board in the second half, but were unable to take the Eagles out of the game with Garden County adding another 22 points to the board, ending the game 62-25. The Annual Ribs and More Cook Off will continue this summer, but will be guided by different hands. Last Wednesday, Jan. 24, Jowain Sherman, accompanied by members of the community, met with members of the James L. Eatmon Lodge and members of Kimball’s VFW Post #2243 to discuss who would take the reins of this community favorite. The Lady Coyotes are still on a roll defeating the Minatare Lady Indians 34-21. With the 2017/18 season starting to come to a close, the Potter-Dix Coyotes lost another hard fought battle to the Minatare Indians at home, this past Saturday. The Coyotes were out- scored in the first quarter 14-7, and again in the second quarter 20-7, leaving the score at half-time 34-14. After the break, Potter did came back out putting 12 points on the board but Minatare was still able to out-score them with 16. One of the bright spots on the season for the Potter-Dix Coyotes is senior Dylan Nielsen. Averaging 11.1 points per game and 4.6 rebounds on the season is not the only highlight for Dylan. Nielsen has the highest three point percentage in the MAC Conference at 45 percent, shooting 17/38 on the season. Following a recent NACO conference that the Commissioners, as well as others, in the county offices attended, Robert Jenner the Veterans Service Officer had nothing but good things to say. “The meeting was really beneficial,” Jenner added he was able to meet with other officers and was able to ask new, arising questions. “I have now found better ways of doing some things,” he said. According to an arrest affidavit from the Kimball Police Department on Jan. 16 at around 7:48 p.m., Joshua J. Curry was arrested in Kimball County for driving on a suspended license. The arrest affidavit stated that on Jan. 16 at approximately 7 p.m., Kimball Police Chief Andy Bremer responded to the 300 block of S. Howard St. in Kimball, reference to a blue Chevrolet utility vehicle, bearing a Colorado license number. Reports indicated the driver of said vehicle was driving erratically and could be intoxicated. A recent online auction brings more than the Kimball County Commissioners expected. After the decision to sell the 1994 770 DH Motor Grader, a 2000 Back Sloper, and a 1981 John Deere 4440 tractor, the Board of Commissioners’ hopes were not high as to what they would bring at auction time. However, to their surprise Big Iron Auction closed the auction on the 1994 Grader at $26,500. The first of three came against Kimball last Tuesday at home when Kimball outscored the Coyotes 16-7 in the first quarter, and 19-6 in the second. According to Colorado State officials, an explosion involving a truck full of crude oil and an old gas station used as a storage facility for many oil field trucks, went up in flames Sunday morning, Dec. 24. Youngsters basketball gets underway with the first games set for next weekend. The WyoBraska League kicks things off for fourth, fifth and sixth grade boys on Jan. 6.
