    Teresa Gonzalez of Kimball is facing three felony charges – including domestic first degree assault, possession of a controlled substance, and terroristic threats – and two misdemeanor charges from an incident on July 8 at the First Interstate Inn.   • Kimball Trap Team Shoots At Nationals

    On Friday, the Kimball trap team traveled to Mason, Michigan, to shoot at Nationals. The five-member squad shot 419; each individual had two sessions with 50 shots each session. Justin Klosterman had a 74, Nolan Cook with an 81, Cameron McGinnis had a 85, Cainin Sours with a 90, and James McGinnis shot 89.     In a few weeks, County Road 59 South, otherwise known as the Dix road, will receive two coats of chip seal. At the present time, the tubes or culverts have been installed, and there are about 3½ miles left to patch before the chip seal project begins. The badly needed repairs will help improve the life of the blacktop and hopefully repair potholes.     Speculation on the location of the Northrup Grumman Work-Force-Hub site continues in the Kimball community. Northrup Grumman has yet to release the location, but representative Matt Dillow detailed a timeline at a June 28 community meeting in Kimball and gave an update on the Sentinel missile project.     Over three days –Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of last week – the Kimball City Council annexed and rezoned 150 acres of land contiguous to the City of Kimball to the south.     Kimball veteran Gary Barker's name was read at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., along with 565 other individuals who died as a result of their injuries during the Vietnam War.     At its regular board meeting, the Kimball School Board selected former board member Chauncey Pederson’s replacement on June 12. The new member, Britni Toth, will complete the 17 months remaining of Pederson’s term. Toth was selected from four potential candidates who applied for the spot.     Improvements and upgrades to the Kimball County Courthouse continue as the county commissioners’ previous approval for the purchase and installation of the chiller and boiler are currently happening. Last summer, the chiller quit and the boiler had reached the end of life for such equipment.     The Observer received the unofficial Kimball special election results from Kimball County Clerk Cathy Sibal at about 7:40 p.m. Tuesday.     The Kimball County Assessor’s office has been busy answering questions and explaining the changes in property valuations to local residents. On June 1, letters went out to property owners showing the changes in valuation. Most residential properties increased in value, while a few were reduced. By statute, every six years, all property in the county must be re-evaluated and reviewed.     After just one event on Saturday, the Kimball Ranch Rodeo was canceled due to the continual downpour of rain.     Perjury charges were filed on June 7 against Kenneth D. Childs in another legal case involving the Dix resident. The Kimball County Sheriff’s Office handled the case.
