The low gross was crowded for Week Five of the Kimball Women’s Golf Association league play as three individuals tied each with a 49, including Sally Plover, Phyllis Greenwood and Daria Faden. On July 6, the Kimball County Commissioners met to conduct the regular business of the county. Staffing changes have occurred at the sheriff’s office, with part-timer Brandon Loy assuming the duties of chief deputy. Other deputies are Marla Knigge and newly deputized candidate Cole Saunders, who was sworn in on June 8. Saunders is expected to attend the Police Academy in Grand Island in January 2022. At the July 20 Kimball City Council meeting, Christy Warner will be sworn in as the newest council member. The council at that point will be seating an entire board after months of discourse. Week three for the Women’s Golf Association brought Payton Wise to the league as a substitute, and she shot the low gross of 41 on the front nine. The Kimball County Commissioners dealt with a variety of topics Tuesday in their regular bi-monthly meeting. The county Road Department will begin working again on their 1/6 Year project located 14 miles south of Kimball and 2 miles west. The inaugural season of the Kimball Longhorn Trap team is in the books. The team participated in the state trap shoot on Sunday, with each individual member shooting 100 clay pigeons. Results for the state tournament will be announced after all the teams throughout the state have completed their shooting. The state meet is open from June 11-20. The Plains Historical Museum in the Fraternal Hall will be open Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Friday this summer from 2-4 p.m. Individuals have stepped up to volunteer to open the museum. One of the unique items in the museum is the Hinner organ and bench given to the museum by Fred and Helen Rasgorshek. According to the information on the organ, for $100, Fred purchased the church, which included pews, organ, and chairs from Bonham Mortuary in 1911. Members of the AmeriCorps team are continuing their volunteer work in Kimball. After weeks of working at the Plains Historical Museum, they are now at the Community Trail, according to Jean Gilbert. Kimball's 12th annual Ranch Rodeo will be held this Saturday, June 12, with 20 bronc riders and seven ranch rodeo teams set to participate.
