  • Lady Horns Win First Game; Give Perkins A Battle

Jaclyn Burks, Lady Longhrons Basketball Coach|Dec 19, 2024

This last week we had a full week of games with another busy week ahead of us before break. On Tuesday, we traveled to Garden County and got our first win of the season, 24-21. This game was physical and had momentum swings for each team. I was proud of our girls and their ability to show growth and grit at the end of the game, when we needed to hold on to a lead. Definitely some learning points to take from the game, but the girls played well and as a team. Emmaline Tabor 4 ts 3reb JaLeigh Boha...

  • Lady Horns Take Bayard To Limit

Jaclyn Burks, Lady Longhorn Basketball Coach|Dec 12, 2024

The Leyton game certainly was not our best showing. However Leyton is a very strong team that qualified for State last year and lost very little. They shot very well from 3 point range and that hurt us. Final score: 67-12. Stats: JaLeigh Bohac 4 pts, 5 reb Faith Bohac 4 pts, 9 reb Clarika Hottell 2 pts, 2 reb Joey Perry 1 pt, 2 reb Emmaline Tabor 1 pt The Bayard game was a heartbreaker losing by only four points 34-30. Late turnovers and stretches without points really cost us down the stretch....

  • Lady Horns Finish Year On High Note

    Jaclyn Burks, Lady Longhorns Coach|Feb 29, 2024

The Kimball Lady Longhorns closed out their season on a high note, despite a loss. I was so pleased and proud of the progress we displayed throughout the whole year, but especially the last game. We were paired up with South Platte as a 3 seed at subdistricts. Our previous game with them they won very handily, 62-37. This time around, we had a solid game plan that we executed very well. We rotated Addy Olson and Rachel Berger face-guarding their best player, who averages 15 ppg. Those ladies did an amazing job and held her to only 6 points. Whi...

  • Lady Horns In Subdistrict After Bounce Back Win

Jaclyn Burks, Kimball Girls Basketball Coach|Feb 15, 2024

The Longhorn girls played in the WTC last week and did well. Losing our first round game to Bayard 56-19 although we played much better than the last time we matched up with them in the first game of the season. The team has grown as players from the first of the season. We then faced a feisty Hemingford team at WNCC. We did not play our best game, but we came out with a win. With that win, Mitchell was next on Saturday morning. Our tired legs showed themselves as they overpowered us to a loss of 32-18. Our girls fought very hard throughout the...

  • Lady Longhorns Split With Sutherland, St. Pat's

Jaclyn Burks, Kimball Girls Basketball Coach|Feb 1, 2024

On Thursday, we hosted Sutherland at home and had a great game again on our home court. We played hard and hustled well, even when things weren't going our way. I'm proud of the hustle the girls showed on the court. We beat Sutherland, 38-26. Kimball Game Stats Addy Olson 19 pts, 9reb, 5 stl, 3 blocks Grace Anderson 6 pts, 10 reb, 2 stl Julia Winstrom 4 pts, 3 reb, 1 stl Grace Moore 3pts, 7 reb, 2 ast Jasmine Gawith 3pts, 2 reb, 4 stl, 2 ast Joey Perry 9 reb Faith Bohac 3 pts, 3 reb In the game...

  • Lady Longhorns Wrap Up At SubDistrict

Jaclyn Burks, Lady Longhorns Basketball Coach|Feb 24, 2022

We closed out our season in Subdistrict play with Perkins County on February 15 with a 55-39 loss. We had played Perkins County twice already and split games with them. They came out on fire and we definitely struggled to get any buckets in the first half. We told our girls at halftime to focus on controlling what they could – their attitude and effort – and enjoy playing for each other. They did just that. We came out with one of our best second halves to date. The girls had fun and truly enj...

  • Lady Longhorns Keep On Battling

Jaclyn Burks, Lady Longhorn Basketball Coach|Feb 17, 2022

Last Tuesday, we traveled to Pine and as expected, it was a physical battle. We lost 55-34 but continued to show good defense throughout the game. The girls definitely showed their conditioning level as we had to go into full court man defense to try to dig out of a bad 3rd quarter showing. They fought hard but it was not enough to bring home the win. Game Stats Maddi Merryfield 8pts 4 reb Amy Birkhofer 7 pts 7 reb Chantel Malson 6 pts 6 reb Payton Wise 6 pts 3 reb 3 stl Katie Heeg 4 pts 2 reb Emma Patterson 2 pts 2 reb Julia Winstrom 1 pt Kimb...

  • Kimball 7-12 As Postseason Nears

Jaclyn Burks, Lady Longhorns Basketball Coach|Feb 10, 2022

We traveled to Gordon for WTC first round action in a game against Gordon-Rushville. We had a solid game plan going into this game but unfortunately we could not convert our shots and lost 50-20. My girls did everything I asked of them but we really struggled to put the ball through the hoop, Gordon is a great team, and they don't miss often. Our defense did a great job rotating but when offense isn't flowing well, it's hard to keep pace with a good team. Here are our statistics from the game:...

  • Lady Longhorns Open WTC Thursday

Jaclyn Burks, Lady Longhorns Basketball Coach|Feb 3, 2022

This week we start WTC play with Gordon-Rushville in the 1st Round. We play Thursday night at Gordon at 6. We are hoping to learn from our last game with them and upset the Mustangs. The WTC tournament follows a week in which Kimball played four games. Here's a look at those games. Mitchell 56, Kimball 30 Our girls had a very long week. We played 4 games this week, 7 total in the last 2 weeks, and our legs showed it at the end of the week. Our first matchup was against Mitchell. We had high...

  • Lady Longhorns Avenge Loss To PC

Jaclyn Burks, Lady Longhorns Basketball Coach|Jan 27, 2022

Chase County 55, Kimball 21 SPVA First Round Our girls had an eventful week. We played Chase County the beginning of the week and the score did not reflect the level of play we showed. Our girls learned a new defense five minutes prior to the start of the game and executed it very well. They played hard until the end, and were very proud of their efforts. Kimball statistics: Amy Birkhofer 6 pts, 7 reb. Maddi Merryfield 6 pts, 3 reb. Katie Heeg 5 pts, 2 reb, 3 stl. Chantel Malson 2 pts, 7 reb....
