    The village meeting was pretty short again this month, but some helpful reminders were mentioned. The landfill fee is increasing by two dollars a month, to $13. The postal service meeting to gather input on preferred window hours will be held Tuesday, February 26 at 1 p.m. in the community center. The village board meetings will be held at 7 p.m. starting in March (because of Daylight Savings Time).     For those of you who missed the Kimball Concert Association’s show on Sunday night, the Thuringer Salon Quintet gave a beautiful performance. It’s too bad the weather deterred people from coming. The Lions Club pancake feed was a success, as usual. It’s always a pleasure to sit and visit with neighbors and friends–and all for a good cause!     The Bushnell Lions Club is having a pancake feed Saturday, February 9. Stop in from 11-1 or 5-7 for orange juice, pancakes, and sausage. $5 for adults, children 5 and under are free. Johnsons Surplus will be open Saturday, February 9 and every Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. from now until further notice.     The Abundant Grace Free Store will be holding a garage sale on Saturday, February 2, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at their location in Kimball (northeast corner of the intersection at the stoplight). They will be selling sewing machines, television sets, collectibles, dishes, Christmas decorations, and more. The community center board meets on Monday, February 4.     Since I was unable to attend the village meeting last week, here’s a quick summary I got from board chairman Tim Nolting. He said the meeting was short and they only covered a few items of business. The board accepted a bid on the metal roofing material that was removed from the shop building when the hail damage was repaired. They voted to file their periodic road maintenance report.     The swearing-in ceremony for the new Kimball and Banner County elected officials will be held Thursday, January 3 at 8 a.m. in the District Court courtroom. This is open to the public, so feel free to come and support your representatives.     A lot of business was covered at last week’s village board meeting. Cody, Billy, and Karl took the oath of office for the positions they were re-elected to on the board. Tim was re-elected as chairman of the board. Shirley was reappointed as clerk/treasurer. Tim, Verne, and Karl were reappointed to the health board.
