    Mike Motz, The Observer|Oct 14, 2021

Potter-Dix’s Coyote football team continued its success with a 51-12 win over Hay Springs Friday night at Combs Field in Potter. After deferring to the second half, the Coyotes kicked off and put the Hawks deep in their own territory to start the game. After a few unsuccessful running attempts, the Hawks connected on a long pass to get the ball into Coyote territory. But the Potter-Dix defense stiffened and forced a turnover on downs. On the Coyotes’ first play from scrimmage, sophomore quarterback Brayden Kasten found junior Luke Kasten on...

  • No 2021 Kimball Football

Mike Motz and Jim Orr, The Observer|Sep 2, 2021

Kimball High School’s football season appears to have ended before it started. The Longhorns were forced to forfeit their scheduled opener at Hitchcock County last Friday due to a lack of players. And now this. “We only have nine players out for football right now,” Kimball coach Ben Aarestad said Tuesday. “I don’t think we will play at all this year. We have lost so many kids in the past few years that it finally caught up with us.” The Horns were scheduled to play Leyton this Friday, but that seems most unlikely barring the unforeseen....

Potter-Dix’s Coyote football team had an historic run last season, going 9-and-0 in the regular season before finally being knocked-off by Cody-Kilgore in the playoffs. The team members made a commitment to each other to come back better and stronger, and it was obvious the boys had put in plenty of time in the weight room during the off-season. The work paid off for the Coyotes as they put away the Wallace Wolves in decisive fashion after a relatively slow start. With a 90 degree temperature and a gentle breeze at kickoff, the Wolves used t...
