Owning your own business was the American Dream for years. Due to the availability of big box stores who buy in bulk so they may “pass” the savings on to the consumer, the little hometown stores are suffering. Kimball Lions Club held their annual 9 Pin No Tap bowling tournament over a two weekend period in February. This is the main fundraiser for the oldest Lions Club in the state of Nebraska. The funds raised from the tournament are used specifically for the Kimball area. Programs such as hearing and vision screening for children and the general public, and the scholarship program are made possible from the funds raised. A brief presentation of photographs of the soon-to-be graduates showed on-screen their transition from babies to young children and teenagers, and started Saturday's graduation ceremony at Potter-Dix High School. There were 21 soon-to-be graduates gathered in the entrance way of the gym preparing to enter one by one. Excitement and tears were on many of the students' faces.
