    The Kimball High Cross Country Team ran many of their season best times at Saturday's Alliance Invitational Cross Country meet, which was quite pleasing to coach Tiffany Johnson. "All of our High School girls ran their fastest times of the year to date. Connor Cluff had his personal best time and ran his best race in his career.     Another record setting day on the golf course for Kimball's Payton Wise as the sophomore standout lowered her own school record round by 4 strokes it the Gering Invitational Tournament this past week. Her new Kimball High Girl's record round of 77 will go in the record books as having occurred on September 17, 2019!     The Longhorns of Kimball High couldn’t keep pace with the quickness and speed of the visiting state ranked Dundy County­ Stratton Tigers in Friday night 8-man football action, losing 72-26 to the 4th ranked visitors.     If you didn’t get out to the Kimball Invitational Cross Country meet Friday afternoon, you certainly missed out on quite a sight! With 223 runners coming to compete, plus all of the coaches, bus drivers, friends and family members, there were a lot of people at the Four Winds Golf Course. It was a beautiful calm day, and perhaps a bit warm for the runners as they put out a lot of effort to run those hills and cover 5,000 meters.     The Kimball High football team made a long Friday night trip to Bartley pay off with a 42-0 win over the Southwest opponent in 8-man football action. With the win, the Longhorns evened their record at 1-1 going into tomorrow night’s home encounter with a very strong visiting Dundy County team The Horns controlled the game from start to finish scoring twice in the opening quarter and taking a 34-0 lead to the locker room by half time.     Kimball High hosted their annual Cross Country Invite this past Friday and attracted the largest field of runners ever, according to Kimball Activities Director Ken Smith. The final tally was 223 runners who enjoyed a near perfect afternoon with no wind, but maybe a bit too warm for some distance runners who prefer cooler weather.     Kimball sophomore Payton Wise picked up yet another medal, to add to her collection of hardware,at the Mitchell Invitational Golf Tournament held this past Thursday. Payton, like almost all of the golfers, didn't shoot close to her top scores of the season, thanks in large part to a miserable windy day.     Highlight of the opening week of Kimball High School Fall Sports is of course the new Kimball school record round of golf shot by sophomore Payton Wise. The talented young lady won the Bayard Tournament with her awesome round of 46-35=81 for her second top ten medal in the opening week as she finished 9th at the Sidney Tournament in the season opener.     The Kimball High Longhorn Football Team suffered a 62-20 loss to the visiting Garden County Eagles in the season opener for both teams in 8-man football action this past weekend. It took parts of two days to get the game completed as the contest was called off Friday evening due to lightning delays that wouldn't go away.     The Kimball Longhorn Cross Country Team opened the season at the Scottsbluff Panhandle Classic Invite this past Thursday evening and the highlight for coach Tiffany Johnson’s runners was a top 25 medal performance by sophomore Chantel Malson, who finished 22nd in the field of 107 runners in the female division.     The Four Winds Men’s Monday-Tuesday Golf League has all but wrapped up its golf season with only the men’s combined scramble remaining this Sunday afternoon.
