    Tom Southard, The Observer|Dec 27, 2018

The Kimball High winter sports scene is pretty much shut down as they adhere to the Nebraska State School Activities Association Moratorium rules that shut down practices for all Nebraska schools for 5 days from December 22 through December 26. This means Kimball can begin practice sessions beginning today, but there is still no school until January 7th, but our basketball teams will return to competition on January 3 when both girls and boys host Sidney, and on January 5 they go to Chase County. The Longhorn wrestlers are back on the mast Janu...

  • Kimball Wrestlers Outnumbered At Imperial

    Tom Southard, The Observer|Dec 27, 2018

The Kimball High Wrestling Team closed out the early portion of their season at a triangular in Imperial this past week before going on break for the Holiday lay off, mandated by the NSAA. With only 6 wrestlers on the roster, it is hard to win a dual competition against teams with more numbers. Despite this, Kimball had some positive results according to coach Wade Brashear. Kimball lost to Chase County 64-18 with Jordan Cluff winning by fall over Alex Gomez at 120 with fall time at 4:00, and Stephen Bateman at 285 also won by fall in 2:00...

    Tom Southard|Dec 20, 2018

The Horns saw their season record fall to 2-4 with a Friday night loss to Hershey by a score of 66-53, and a Saturday evening loss to Bayard of 51-35. A double-win weekend for the Kimball girls as they ran their season record to 3-1. On Friday night at home the Lady Longhorns won over Perkins County 65-29 and on Saturday at Morrill they came out on top 58-40. A good offensive showing both nights for the Kimball ladies! • Kimball Boys lose to Perkins Co.... Win at Morrill

    Tom Southard|Dec 13, 2018

A loss and a win over the weekend leaves the Kimball High boys with a record of 2 and 2 in the early part of their basketball season, but things should be looking up for the Horns. On Friday night on the home court the Horns led through 3 quarters over visiting Perkins County before faltering down the stretch in the 4th period to suffer a 55-47 loss to the Plainsmen. It was a case, once again, of poor shooting costing the Horns as they took 17 more shots from the field than the Grant club, but...
