    After missing out by one place a year ago in his freshman year, Kimball’s Brady Kilgore made the most of his qualifying spot at this year’s District Track Meet by finishing 2nd in his favorite event, the 110 meter high hurdles, and then winning performances this past weekend at Omaha Burke Stadium, finishing 5th with his time of 15.2 after his qualifying run on Friday of 15.88.     Kimball will be sending three athletes to the 2017 Nebraska State Track and Field Championships this weekend at Omaha Burke Stadium, and the honored trip consists of senior Jaden Withrow in the triple jump, junior Hannah Biesecker in the long jump and sophomore Brady Kilgore in the 110 meter high hurdles.     The Kimball Boy's golf team captured the team title in winning the SPVA Conference championship in their latest conquest of an undefeated season to date. The Longhorns shot a solid round of 308 for the win with Perkins County runnerup with 324, followed by St. Pats with 330, Sutherland 379 and Hershey 386.     An exciting week of local sports with Kimball qualifying 3 individuals for this week’s State Track Meet and with the Kimball high boy’s golf team winning the SPVA Conference Tournament and keeping their undefeated season alive.     The Kimball High boy's golf team took care of business on their home course this past week and racked up two more wins while taking top honors in both the Western Trails Conference Tournament, as well as the Kimball Invitational, in a dual scored event.     The KImball girls and boys both finished in sixth place at last week's SPVA Conference Track meet with the Longhorn boys scoring 38 points and the girls 37. Jaden Withrow was an individual winner winning the triple jump at 41'8" and finishing second in the long jump at 20'7".     A full house for the 2017 KImball High Booster Club Awards NIght and Banquet this past week. After a welcome from MC Jeri Ferguson, and a prayer as well, the students were given the go-ahead to attack the food tables including the brisket sandwich meat prepared by Dave Klinkhammer.     The spring sports season is winding down, and in fact, this school year is almost over. District Track for the Kimball High tracksters is Today, Thursday, at Mitchell with a 10 a.m. start time that could possibly vary with weather conditions.     The Kimball High boy's golf team had the best round ever while setting a new school record at the Morrill Tournament this past week. April 18 will go into the record books as the date the Kimball boys scored a team round of 298 to better the previous round of 302 shot a few years back by the team consisting of Kendall Ferguson, Jeff Greenwood, Henry Heeg, Landon Smith and Todd O'Hare.     The Kimball High boy's golf team kept their wining streak alive with a victory at the Scottsbluff Tournament Monday. No problem for the Longhorns as they captured Division Two at the Scottsbluff Country Club with a 319 score, 54 strokes better than runner-up Chadron, with their 373 total.     Kimball High senior, Jordan Greenwood, got a visit from Southeast Community College head golf coach Bill Campbell this past week and ended up accepting the offer of a full ride scholarship to attend the two-year college, located in Beatrice, to continue his education and play golf for Campbell. The Kimball High track team didn’t get a meet in this past week when the Mitchell George Calvert meet was called off due to bad weather.     The Kimball Junior High track invite held this past week attracted 11 schools with Burns winning the girl's team title and Mitchell taking home the boy's team title. In the female division, Burns scored 94 points with Kimball runner-up with 68, Mitchell had 51, Pine Bluffs 40, Morrill 37, Bayard 36, Bridgeport 32, St. Agnes 23, Perkins County 21, Hemingford 18 and Prairie 14.     Brady Kilgore won the Western Trails Conference 110 meter hurdle race this past Thursday at Mitchell with a career best time of 14.59 seconds and in so doing, improved a 31-year-old Kimball High record set by Jeff Fiehtner way back in 1986!     The Kimball High boy's golf team picked up two wins this past week and have opened up the season just the way coach Chad Wise predicted they would.     Spring sports is really bringing out some outstanding efforts by the Kimball High tracksters and boys golfers. Just this past week sophomore Brady Kilgore broke a 31-year-old Kimball High record when he won the 110 meter high hurdles at the Western Trails Conference track met in Mitchell.     Tory and Jennifer Schwartz, along with their daughter Ashtyn, made a trip to Kimball recently to accept a check for $2,597 that Kimball High students, Alex and Kate Reader had raised to contribute to the Team Ashtyn Foundation.     The Kimball High boy’s golf team opened the season this past Thursday, competing in the Gering Quad, nine hole tournament. This tournament wasn’t on the regular schedule but Kimball Activities Director Ken Smith saw it as an opportunity to give the Kimball team one more chance to get some competition.
