Starting off with a bit of golf today, be sure and call the Pro Shop at the Four Winds before heading out as they have been sanding and plugging the greens and you might find limited holes in use. Four Winds Pro Chad Wise said there will be open golf this weekend for certain. -----------------------------Thanks to some back problems and other health issues I haven’t caught any Kimball High sports events yet but I think I am on the mend now and actually got down to Lincoln this past weekend for the Nebraska-Wyoming football game. I like to t...

Each golfer was allowed to play two balls, on each shot, from the tee box until the ball was holed thus giving each golfer a mulligan on every shot! Each golfer was also given 60% of their handicap. The Western Nebraska golf season is on-going, but even as I say that, some aspects of the season is coming to a close already. The Panhandle Junior Tour concluded this past week with play at Scottsbluff and Gering. We gave you the first day of play last week at Scottsbluff Country Club, and that wound up on Tuesday for those top 8 who made the cut for second day play. • Hot golf played at Vince's Corner tourney

    Tom Southard|Jul 14, 2016

The 2016 Vince’s Corner ABCD Double Draw Two-Day Golf Scramble was the weekend highlight at the Four Winds Golf Course bringing many out of town and out of state golfers to Kimball to play for some outstanding prizes, and to enjoy meeting up with old time friends. The Heeg family shuts down the number of entries at 120 or 30 four-man teams, and there is always a waiting list in case any golfer has to withdraw. Many golfers come in a day or even a couple of days early to play practice rounds. Like always, course superintendent, Jeremy W...

I hope everybody had a Happy 4th of July and now it is back to work, or whatever. I ate way too much good food, watched the fireworks the Kimball Fire Department put on, played a round of golf with my grandson, and otherwise took it easy. Not a lot of sports taking place right now, but the parking lot at the Four Winds Golf Course was full of out-of-town and out-of-state license plates the entire weekend. Lots of golfers love to make the drive to play the Four Winds. I can’t think of any other one thing that brings people to Kimball that c...

  • History of the hole-in-one

    Tom Southard|Jun 9, 2016

The Hole-in-one is one of the ultimate goals of all golfers, and according to the stat people, very few ever achieve this goal.
