    The visiting Hershey Panthers ran back the opening kickoff 82 yards for a quick go-ahead touchdown and never looked back in piling up a 54-7 win over the hosting Kimball High Longhorns this past Friday evening. Mason Amweg, a fast and shifty 145 pound back for the Panthers got that early TD and with just over 2 minutes later, ran a reverse for another 32 yard touchdown with the PAT attempts both times failing.     Kimball will have two runners representing them at this year's State Class D Cross Country meet being held tomorrow (Friday) at the Kearney Country Club Golf Course. Brandon Barker, a junior, and Zachery Wagner, a freshman, were the Longhorns' state qualifiers by virtue of their respective number three and number fifteen finishes at the District race held this past week in Grant.     The two-person team of Ty Garrett and Gene Golding won top honors at the Four Winds Fund Raiser Golf Tournament held this past Sunday. In the third year of this annual affair it has grown in popularity with 52 golfers, or 26 teams, taking part this year. The format originated from 20 years ago by Four Winds Pro Chad Wise and his Dad, and still has special meaning to Chad, who played this year with his son Dillon.     In Kimball Junior High football action to report, Kimball suffered losses to Mitchell with the 7th grade falling 24-0 and the 8th grade losing 40-26. Coach Dane Wurdeman said the 7th grade team “Had a tough loss.” “Mitchell has a really nice football team this year. Lots of size and numbers.     A year-end combined scramble closed out league play for both the Thursday Men’s Association and the Four Winds Men’s Association this past Sunday at the Four Winds Golf Course. A total of 24 golfers participated and the pairings were evidently mighty good as it took extra holes to determine the winners among the middle three teams. The winning team of Lynn Anthony, Pat O’Brien, Don Trofholz, Gary Haack, and Bill Shain shot a score of 60, leaving no doubt as to their status.     Danika Daum, Kimball High senior, has given verbal commitment to play volleyball at WNCC next year and will complete her commitment at a formal signing in late November. At this time Daum has no plans to play basketball as well for the Lady Cougars, but plans to focus strictly on volleyball.     On the subject of golf, Kimball High held their home girls golf tournament this past week with 27 girls participating. Gering won team honors with a team score of 416, Bayard had 466, and Sidney junior varsity 513. Mitchell's Kensey Kanno won individual top honors with her round of 97.     A new granite sign will welcome golfers to the Four Winds Golf Course. The sign was donated by the children of Al and Fredene Pietsch in memory of their parents. The 3,800 pound of granite was built by Herstead Monument Company of Scottsbluff with Byron Wilson bringing the chunk of stone to Kimball this past Thursday morning and then overseeing its placement.     Kimball's Payton Wise competed in the Regional Masters Drive-Chip-Putt contest this past weekend in Denver and ended up fourth overall in her division.     A Ferguson loaded team emerged champions of the 24th annual Kimball Hospital Foundation Golf Classic held this past Saturday at the Four Winds Golf Course.     The 47th Nebraska Junior Amateur Golf Championship along with the 15th Nebraska Girls Amateur Championship was held at the Kimball Four Winds Golf Course this past week and when all was said and done, it was termed a success by all involved.     The Four Winds Golf Course will come alive with young golfers this upcoming week as the Four Winds Golf Course will be the site of the 47th Nebraska Junior Amateur Championship and the 15th Nebraska Girl’s Amateur Championship.
