    The Kimball High boys won two out of three of their basketball encounters this past week to run their season record to 5 and 7 prior to Monday's SPVA Tournament loss to Bridgeport. Last week, the Longhorns picked up a 56-42 win over Potter-Dix on Tuesday, lost at Bridgeport 57-48, and won at Gordon-Rushville 54-43.     The Kimball High girls ran their season record to 5 wins and 4 losses after a hard fought three-game weekend where they lost on the home court to Sidney and Mitchell but came back on Saturday night to win on the road at Chase County.     The Kimball High Wrestling Team did not have one of their better performances at the Western Trails Conference Tournament held this past Thursday at Hemingford with only senior Rowdy Keller bringing home a place for the Horns, but they came back stronger on Saturday at the Garden County Tournament.     Three tough opponents coming off the Holiday break brought about three weekend losses for the Kimball High boy's basketball team. It started on Thursday night with class B Sidney coming to Kimball and the tall and talented Red Raiders had no trouble picking up their 8th win with a 60-20 victory over the Longhorns.     Kimball’s junior varsity basketball teams got in three games each this past week with the girls winning one and the boys doing the same. The girls lost to Sidney 56-23 on Thursday night with Myriah Tyan scoring 10, Hannah Biesecker 6, Shauntae Daily 5, and Justine Heeg 2. Sidney had 12 players score for them as they ran players in and out.     It was a split weekend for the Kimball Lady Longhorn basketball team as they lost to Hershey on Friday night 38-32 but came roaring back on Saturday eveing to win over Bayard 76-51, running their season record going into the Holiday break at 4-2. Poor performance at the foul line cost the Kimball boys Friday night and free throw shooting also played a part in a loss on Saturday night for the Horns.     The Kimball High boys opened the season with a pair of wins in capturing the championship of their own four team tournament this past weekend as new head coach Luke Dea saw his new role as the head man start off in the right way.     The opening weekend of the Nebraska Firearm deer season proved to be bountiful with 101 deer checked in at the Kimball check-in station located once again at Sportsman's Liquor Store.
