    It was a winning year of football for coach Nick Kuxhausen and his staff with 6 wins and only 3 losses for Kuxhausen in his second year as the head man. The Longhorns were so close to making the state playoffs in the year of the new format where the playoff teams in C-2 were cut from 32 to 16. Kimball ended up in a tie for the number 18 spot. Think back to the 20-17 loss to Southern Valley, (who made the playoffs) where the Horns were leading until the final minutes.     The Kimball High Lady Longhorns lost to Sidney in four sets in the regular season final match played on the Kimball home court this past week but gave good effort against the larger Class B school.     Ryan Muneio will be Kimball High's lone state qualifier after finishing 9th at the D-6 District Cross Country meet held at Grant this past Thursday. The top three teams and top 15 individuals in both the girl's and boy's races get to advance to the state meet corning up tomorrow (Friday-October 24) at the Kearney Country Club Golf Course.     Kimball High senior Jaycie Walker closed out her high school golf career at the Nebraska state Class C state Tournament held at the Quail Run Golf Course in Columbus this past Monday-Tuesday and although she didn’t finish in the top 15 medal group, she can feel proud of her accomplishments this year. Jaycie had to battle not only the field of 92 ladies, but also some cold and windy weather, especially on Monday.     Kimball's Bruce Gilliland was inducted into the Nebraska Golf Hall of Fame this past Monday evening in ceremonies held at the Country Club of Lincoln in Lincoln, Nebraska. Bruce, who turned age 97 just three days earlier, was not up to making the trip but was represented by his wife Wilma and son Steven who accepted the honor in his behalf.
