    It was another strong showing from Kimball High’s two senior golfers as both Jaycie Walker and Kallie Bush finished in the top 10 medal group at the Mitchell Invitational Girls Golf Tournament. The tournament was postponed one day until this past Friday due to bad weather conditions on Thursday. Walker shot 103 to finish seventh and Bush shot 108 to place ninth.     The Kimball High Volleyball teams are corning off a very busy week and after a 3-0 start, are now 6-3 on the season. "We just finished a very tough week of competition" said coach Vicki Mitchell. "The varsity players had eight games from Tuesday through Saturday."     The Kimball High School cross country team opened the 2014 season with perhaps its toughest competition of the entire season Sept. 5 at the Gering Invite. The Longhorns had to run with many of the large Class B Nebraska Schools along with some of the strong Wyoming schools, but it was a good opening test for coach Tiffany Johnson’s runners.     The Kimball High Longhorn Football Team suffered their first loss of the season Friday night at Keith Staehr Field losing to Southern Valley 20-17 just when it looked like they had a win locked up.     The Lady Longhorn Volleyball Team opened the season at Bridgeport this past Thursday evening and brought home a marathon four set victory. Set scores saw Kimball prevail 25-15, 30-32, 32-30, 25-14. Coach Vicki Mitchell said "I was most proud of our girls for never giving up and for keeping the good attitude even when we got behind.     Kimball High senior Jaycie Walker picked up 2 more medals to keep her streak alive at 4 as she captured 2nd place at the Kimball Invitational Golf Tournament finishing 1 stroke out of first with her round of 103, and then took 5th place at the Creek valley Tournament with her round of 102.     On September 29, 2014, Kimball's Bruce Gilliland will be inducted into the Nebraska Golf Hall of Fame at a ceremony being held at the Lincoln Country Club. His induction will come just three days after he celebrates his 97th birthday!     Two tournaments to report from the past week concerning the Kimball High boys' golf team and two more outstanding performances by senior Henry Heeg.
