    The Kimball City Council met on July 11 to discuss, among other things, the future of the Kimball Event Center as the municipality enters the 2017-2018 budget planning period.     After months of investigating the best course of action, the Kimball Board of Education authorized School Superintendent Marshall Lewis to purchase the materials needed to seal the stadium. “At this point the estimate is $25,000 to $35,000.     The reward for information leading to the arrest of individuals responsible for the June 22 vandalism of City and personal property in Kimball has increased to $750. This is the second year that one or more vandals have defaced property in Kimball, including the Kimball Swimming Pool and public parks.     After more than a decade, Kimball County Fair will have an open class for adults and youth who are not in 4-H but wish to show sewing, crafts and more. Open class exhibits can include needlework such as knitting, crochet and hand or machine embroidery or tatting, quilts and sewing anything from placemats to clothing.   • Saturday accident claims the life of local woman

    Erin Aerni, 33, of Kimball was killed in an accident on Highway 30 in Kimball Saturday morning. According to Nebraska State Patrol, the accident occurred at about 9:40 a.m. a half mile west of Kimball when Aerni was running westbound on the highway. At some point she ran from the shoulder onto the road and was struck by a westbound vehicle driven by Caroljo Nagel, 62, also of Kimball.     Wolf Auto Center and the Kimball Banner County Chamber of Commerce have partnered to raise money for the City of Bayard following the destruction caused by a tornado last month. Kimball citizens might see red collection boxes in local businesses for this purpose. Boxes have also been distributed to businesses in Ogallala, Sidney, Bridgeport, Scottsbluff and Gering.     A Union Pacific train collided with a tractor trailer combination belonging to Pine Bluffs Sand and Gravel at approximately 8:34 a.m. on Thursday, July 6, according to Nebraska State Patrol.     Kimball County Sheriff Harry Gillway said that the spaghetti feed at Oliver Reservoir this past weekend was a huge success.
