    Tens of thousands of dollars have been saved by the city of Kimball due to efforts of the city line crew and the power plant, Mayor Keith Prunty said. After abnormal early morning high winds on Dec. 27, an east-west power line on the south side of town whipped back and forth – slapping lines together that created hours of short, on-and-off power outages for the majority of Kimball.     Average gas prices in Kimball dropped about 9 cents last week – from $2.24 to $2.15 per gallon of regular unleaded, according to a Western Nebraska Observer survey.     The group Funds2Org will make yet another stop in Kimball to pick up lightly worn shoes tomorrow – Friday, Jan. 11 – at Beer and Loathing, 206 S. Chestnut St. Funds raised through the shoe collection will benefit Gotte Park. This past Tuesday Kimball hosted Potter-Dix for basketball although there was no girls JV and only two quarters of boys JV play.     A weekend of wrestling came to a close Sunday afternoon in at the Bulldog Brawl Tournament in Gering after Saturday’s tournament held in Mitchell.     Potter-Dix started off the new year off with tough losses for the boys and girls basketball teams. The Coyotes lost to Bayard last Friday, Jan 4, 70-20, and then faced South Platte at home Saturday in another loss, 61-22.
