The School Board was back in session on Monday evening, Feb. 17, after a long day Saturday of interviewing candidates for superintendent of schools. The Kimball school board conducted interviews Saturday, Feb. 15, for the three candidates for superintendent of Kimball schools. The candidates were Gregory Gaden, Trevor Anderson and Danielle Reader. Each had a formal and public interview with the board, and the candidates also had interviews with staff and community. Kimball City Council is back at full strength. In order to make the council complete, Mayor Keith Prunty's appointment of Creg Pike to fill the vacancy on the council was accepted Tuesday by a motion and a second. The measure passed, 3-0, to have Pike fill the seat that opened when Christy Warner stepped down. Pike then took the oath of office and climbed on board to join the council. Good morning Banner County, friends near and far. This past week many folks celebrated Valentines Day, 4-H had beef weigh-in, and most schools had a day (or two) off for Presidents Day. Pretty busy weekend. This up coming week however seems a lot less so. Tomorrow, Friday, February 21st, school will be in session here in Harrisburg and there will be a Community Basketball and supper that evening. Jon Kuhlman passed away unexpectedly and peacefully in his sleep on December 14, 2019. He was born in Flint, Michigan, on February 7, 1941, to Fredrick and Lillian Kuhlman. Jon was the sixth child in a large family of 13 children where their German heritage was very strong. His siblings knew him as Johnny. Laurel Lee Eberhart of Cary, North Carolina passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 10th, 2020 at the age of 90 years old. Laurel was a native Nebraskan born in Bushnell, Nebraska, to Ralph and Salma Hammond on December 20, 1929. She attended grade school in Bushnell, NE and high school in Louisville, NE. She graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan University, Lincoln, NE in 1951 receiving a BS degree in Social Work. She worked at the Veterans Administration for a year and then had her first...

This is the weekend of the 2020 Nebraska State Wrestling Tournament held in Omaha and Kimball has FOUR STATE QUALIFIERS! It has been a long time since the Longhorns have sent this many young men to the BIG SHOW down east. Kimball will be sending four wrestlers to the Nebraska State Wrestling Tournament in Omaha that gets underway today (Thursday) and continues through Saturday! The Kimball High Lady Longhorns won in Subdistrict on Tuesday night, Feb. 18, beating Perkins County, 46-31. This means that the Longhorns next play in the Subdistrict Championship game 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, against South Platte at Ogallala. A key win for the Kimball High boys Friday night as they kept their Western Trails Conference hopes alive with a 49-34 win over visiting Hemingford. The Longhorns looked sharp with some good passing and team work with everyone looking for the open man which turned into baskets and a lot of assists on the stat sheet. In Tuesday night basketball action at Pine Bluffs, the night belonged to the hosting Hornets as they dominated Kimball in both he girls and boys contests.
