Nebraska Gov. Jim Pillen declared a disaster declaration for Kimball, Banner, Cheyenne, Garden, Morrill and Scotts Bluff counties after the April 6-7 high winds and blizzard conditions. The damage to the affected counties is expected to exceed $5.4 million. The Banner County FFA chapter competed recently at the State FFA Convention and boy did they represent the county well! Twelve local FFA members competed in AG Mechanics, Environment and Natural Resources, Livestock Management, Meats Judging, and Senior Public Speaking. Three people also received their State FFA degrees, and the chapter showed off Banner County by doing a table about Banner County. Track season is well underway, and the practices are paying off as Longhorns are setting plenty of personal records. The Kimball Longhorn golf team placed third at the Bridgeport Invite on Friday. Top finishers for Kimball were Kyler Lusche with an 85 for fifth place. Right behind Lusche was Connor Deboodt in sixth place, also with an 85. The team continues to improve in giant leaps. At Morrill on Monday, the team scored 352, good enough for fourth place and a 20 stroke improvement, according to coach Chuck Christiansen.
