    Kimball High School students descended on downtown Kimball Friday, April 18 to lend a helping hand and ultimately help The Goodhand Theatre. The students in Geri Ferguson's Civics class organized the event as a fund raiser to renovate and re-open the theater and to repay the support given by local businesses throughout the years. More than 42 man hours were given by 21 adults with 147 students giving a total of 294 hours and more than $1,184 raised during the day with donations still coming in...

    Having already declared that this coming year would be a difficult one for hiring, Superintendent of Kimball Schools, Marshall Lewis, now has more hiring to do. The Kimball Board of Education accepted the resignations of two staff members at their most recent board meeting, April 11.     When landscape artist Deb Salopek moved to Santa Fe, N.M., from Potter last fall, her little downtown Potter art studio sat empty. The empty space owned by the Potter Historical Foundation had been vastly renovated and used as a studio for five years.     Matthew Pellegrini, 34, of Fairbanks, Alaska spent last weekend at Oliver Reservoir because of the storm. He has spent the last five months traveling from his hometown of Fairbanks to the farthest point south in Keywest, Fla. This may not seem like a big deal, but Pellegrini's trip is projected to take 14 months because he is traveling by bicycle. She lived and attended schools in Ord and Kimball, NE. Betty met Donald Janicek at the main railroad crossing in Pine Bluffs on her way to a dance. They married on August 28, 1950.     Mitchell took top team honors this past Thursday in winning the 2016 Western Trails Conference Track championship in the meet hosted this year by Kimball. Originally scheduled to be held on Saturday, the meet was moved up two days by vote of Conference officials, and a smart move indeed, as tracksters were treated to a rather nice, but windy day, while Saturday was a snowy and wintery day as was forecasted.     Bridgeport shot their best score of the young season in taking top team honors at their own Bridgeport Invitational this past week with Kimball, finishing runnerup for second place.     The 2016 Western Trails Conference Track Meet is in the books and Kimball did a good job of hosting this year. A salute to the conference officials for moving it up to this past Thursday from the scheduled Saturday to avoid the winter storm that did occur. Mitchell is really loaded this year with track talent, both girls and boys and they once again defended their team titles.     The Kimball Junior High boys won six events and piled up 180 points in winning the Potter-Dix Junior High Track Invite held at the Kimball site this past week. Pine Bluffs was runnerup with 115 points, Banner County had 90, Leyton 76, Potter-Dix 52, Minatare 22.
