The City of Kimball is looking to fill a vacancy on the Kimball City Council as a result of the resignation of council President Kim Baliman. Baliman’s letter of resignation was made available to the public on a table at the April 20 council meeting. On Monday, following the April 20 Kimball City Council meeting, Mayor Keith Prunty said he was "very pleased with the courtesy shown by everyone" regarding a proposal to rezone Ridgewood Trailer Park. Opening day has been pushed back tentatively to Saturday, May 1, at Mr. J's Garden Center, Kimball businessman John Morrison's new venture next to his High Point RV Park along Highway 71. Nebraska Coffee has outgrown its location on Highway 30 and will expand and move to a recently purchased downtown building near the underpass. Kimball’s Longhorn track and field team traveled to Morrill to compete in the annual George Calvert Invitational, and the boys finished fourth out of seven teams while the girls placed fifth out of eight teams. Kimball's Longhorn track and field team sent a few qualifiers to the Best in the West Classic in Scottsbluff on Monday – and enjoyed a few standout performances by the end of the competition. The girls' squad finished 12th out of 24 teams with 15 points, while the boys squad took 19th out of 23 teams with a score of 5.
