The Kimball City Council reviewed the 2013-2014 city budget during their regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, April 21. Fifth grade students from Mary Lynch Elementary School ventured over to the Kimball County Manor last Wednesday (April 22) to help plant trees for Earth Day. The trees, two hackberry trees and one red oak tree, were provided by the South Platte Natural Resources District. The Friends of the Kimball Library's first-ever mystery murder dinner theater was a smashing success. The two-night fundraiser netted more than $1,350 to go to the library's carpet fund, said Kimball Public Library Director Jan Sears. "I think it went very well. Weather permitting, work is scheduled to begin the week of May 4 on US-30 from Dix east to the Cheyenne county line, according to the Nebraska Department of Roads. Paulsen, Inc., of Cozad, Nebraska, has the $2,766,948 contract for concrete repair, ADA sidewalk upgrades, milling and resurfacing work. The Kimball City Council included the city’s waterworks plant and water system in the Combined Utilities Revenue and Refunding Bonds (Series 2013) at its regularly scheduled meeting held April 21. Donald H. Larson was born in Kimball on Jan. 26, 1939, and passed away at his home in Costa Mesa, Calif., on March 22, 2015. Services were held April 10 at Calvary Chapel in Costa Mesa, Calif. His parents were Fred H. Larson and Evelyn (Wilger) Larson. He attended the Kimball public schools graduating in 1957 from Kimball County High School. The Kimball Public Library was one of 10 in Nebraska that received a boost in the form of grants from the Kreutz Bennett Donor-Advised Fund. The library received $5,000 toward its carpet fund and received another $2,7000 for the MakerCamp. The funds come from the generosity of the late Shirley Kreutz Bennett of Lincoln.
