    Retirement is in the air for Bev Schnell, Kimball County Manor Administrator. Schnell advised the Commissioners as to her retirement at their regular board meeting on Monday, May 14. At the end of May, Schnell will be headed into retirement following a 27 year career at the Kimball Manor, 20 of those years were spent in her recent position as administrator.   • Upgrades planned for Kimball parks

    Kimball City Council discussed the March 30 meeting of the Park Planning Group. A number of improvements were considered and a plan was made to complete them in the next few months. Two local companies have been contacted to replace the wooden post perimeter fencing around Gotte Park with painted pipe, partially buried, capped with concrete and connected with cables.     The Kimball High Boy's Golf Team shot their best team score of the season en route to winning the C-5 District Golf Championship they hosted this past Tuesday. The Longhorns put together a very good team score of 309, to finish 33 strokes better than runner up Perkins County with 342, and third place Bridgeport qualified for State with a score of 361.     The Kimball High Track Team ended up with 3 State Track qualifiers, in 4 events, from the Class C-9 District Meet held at Sutherland this past Thursday. Brady Kilgore, a junior, qualified in 2 events winning the boy's high jump at 5'10" and running 2nd in the 110 meter high hurdles in 15.08, nipped at the finish line by McKade Smith of Hershey, who was timed at 15.05.     For only the second time this season, the Kimball High Boy’s Golf Team failed to win a tournament they were involved in. The Longhorns ended up 4 strokes back of Bridgeport at the Bayard Tournament this past week. The winning Bridgeport Team shot 319 and Kimball 323 to finish in the runner-up spot. Behind the top two were Morrill 364, Garden County 379, Scottsbluff JV 403, Mitchell 404, Hemingford 414, Chase County 425, Bayard 426 and Crawford 433.     The District competition for both track and boy’s golf are completed and the state competitions are ready to take place. State track in Omaha is this weekend, May 18-19, and state golf for Class C golfers will be in Kearney this coming Tuesday- Wednesday, May 22-23. Kimball qualified 3 individuals for state track with Brady Kilgore going in both the 110 meter hurdles and the high jump. Hannah Biesecker in the long jump and Kaden Adrian in the 800 meter run.
