    Two Banner County officials are spending 10 days in the Scotts Bluff County Detention Center after having been found guilty by Scotts Bluff County Court Judge Kris Mickey of public indecency in an incident that occurred Dec. 28 at the Banner County Courthouse. Their jail time began on May 20, immediately after their sentencing hearing at the Scottsbluff County Courthouse.     Kimball manslaughter suspect William Shane Serrano had a motion this month for a bond review. He is charged with five felonies, including manslaughter and possession of a firearm while committing a felony. Judge Derek S. Weimer took the May 3 bond review under advisement and issued his order.   • Council OKs $2.5 Million Upgrade Of Electric System

    The Kimball City Council decided against having three public readings for a proposed ordinance and passed Ordinance No. 804, authorizing the issuance of combined utility revenue bonds not to exceed $2.5 million. The purpose of the bond is to finance improvements to and expansion of the city's electric system and other improvements to the city's combined utilities systems.     Kimball Longhorn golfer Kyler Lusche, showing his championship form above in the District tournament at his home Four Winds Golf Course, took his game to the Class D State championship this week at Lake Mahoney Golf Club in North Platte.     Steven Burback recorded a hole in one on a windy April day at Four Winds Golf Course. Tanner Hinton was the official witness of the event. Burback said he used a gap wedge on the 140-yard hole, and the ball rolled in. "I have been within an inch five times and have bitten the stick on a hope but have never got one," he said.   • Longhorn Trap Team Aims For Nationals

    In conference shooting the top three individuals medaled, Jarrett Schutz climbed into third place in the male division and Kambree Hottell placed third in the female division. The trap team has plans of attending Nationals. Preliminary figures show that seven students and possibly more will qualify for Nationals. The qualifying date is June 8. The state shoot is June 18 in Sidney, where the Longhorns will each shoot 100 rounds.... Full story

  • Coyotes Compete At State

    Potter-Dix’s Coyote track and field team traveled to Burke stadium in Omaha late last week to compete in the NSAA State Championship Meet. For the boys, senior Thomas Muldoon placed seventh in the 800 meters and eighth in the high jump, the Coyote’s best showing. Senior Niko Koon placed 22nd in the discus. For the girls, junior Lily Tabor placed 23rd in the Shot Put and 15th in the Pole Vault, while junior Jayden Shoemaker placed 16th in the high jump.... Full story
