Lt. Col. Eric M. Green from F.E. Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne was the speaker for Memorial Day 2022 ceremony at the Kimball Cemetery. It was a chilly and windy day as Matt Shoup, VFW Post 2243 commander, opened the ceremony. Randy Bohac gave the opening prayer, and Eileen Rowley from the VFW Auxiliary placed a wreath at the veterans memorial. Warner presented at the National American Planning Association event, where she described the updated KCTS facility, expansion of the transit service in the area and partners in the growth. Lake Mahoney Golf Course in North Platte was the site of the Class D state golf championship, where Kimball’s freshman Kyler Lusche placed 14th in a field of 94 top golfers in Class D. Kyler told the Observer that the course is straight and easy with no water. With a little bit of nerves on the first few holes, Lusche shot a 81 on Day 1, which put him in sixth place. The City of Kimball Public Swimming Pool opens noon Friday, weather permitting, for adult lap swimming and water walking, and the first open swim of the season follows an hour later. Open swims are scheduled seven days a week, as are adult lap swimming and water walking. Family nights are on Thursday and Sunday. Groups swimming lessons are set for June 20-24 and July 11-15....

Patrick Mars will present his senior piano recital this Sunday, June 5, at 3:00 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 601 S. Locust St. in Kimball.
