    Three and a half years after the U. S. Post Office in Dix was closed due to mold and structural issues, a new post office building has been set down and is expected to open in late July, although no date has officially been set for the opening.     On the first day of YIP camp, five-year old Potter resident, Emeri Reeve declared "This is so much fun." Emeri and 21 other K-6th graders were picking up trash in Potter. YIP is Youth Involved in Potter, the three day camp is in it's fourth year. YIP is the brainchild of Peg Musil, along with Jennifer Thomas.     Kimball native Kaitlin Knaub received an elementary teaching contract at the Kimball School Board meeting on June 10. Kaitlin will be teaching 5th and 6th grade reading and is thrilled to be starting her first teaching job. "I am very excited to get in the classroom and interact with students," she said.     Area residents will have a special opportunity to hear fine music performed by Nathaniel Mars on the piano and Ethan Bemis on his trumpet in recital at the Kimball High School Auditorium on Sunday, June 23 at 3 p.m. Both are graduating senior students of Patricia Fletcher and both will major in music on scholarships this fall.     Claire C. Tritt, 94, a 70 -year resident of Kimball, died June 2, 2019 at SouthLake Village, Lincoln, NE. Claire Constance (nee LaPlante) Tritt was born in Lawrence, MA. on August 8, 1924. She lived and worked in Lawrence until 1946 when she took a leap of faith and married Myron V. Tritt, a returning, midwestern World War II soldier whom she met at a USO dance and corresponded with throughout the War.     "Howdy" to all the Tour de Nebraska bikers! Over 460 riders will arrive in Kimball on Wednesday, June 19, and exit north to Scottsbluff on Thursday morning. The ride starts in Sidney, then they travel to Kimball, Scottsbluff, Bridgeport and back to Sidney. This is the 32nd Annual Tour de Nebraska.     Payton Wise had a very good showing at the recent Kearney Junior Classic Golf Tournament held at the Meadowlark Hills Golf Course. Competing in the age 14-15 girl’s division the young Kimball standout finished 2nd with her round of 93 and 85 in the two day event for a 178 total.     The father-son team of Greg Robinson, Tony and Michael took top honors at this year’s Father’s Day Golf Tournament hosted by the Kimball Thursday Night Men’s Golf League, shooting two day rounds of 59-58=117 to hold off the defending champion father-son team of Kenny Greenwood and sons Jeff and Jordan who also shot 59 on the first day but slipped to a 61 on day two for a 120 total.
