A fond memory for many in the community, the Titan I Missile at Gotte Park, has seen its better days. Though in a state of disrepair, members of the community are ready and willing to move forward to find a solution. In less than 24 hours the 467 Tour de Nebraska riders, friends, family, and support staff were in and out of Kimball but their impact will last a bit longer for Kimball and the riders will have seen the beauty of western Nebraska. Roberta Marshall, 88½, has been a participant of the Tai Chi class for "several years". Roberta, a resident of Vista Villa said, "It is good for bones and muscles" and "I hear it helps with balance." It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of Katelynn Ann Koubek, age 25. She died unexpectedly on June 18, 2019. Her death leaves a huge hole in the hearts of her family and friends. Yet again, Mother Nature had her way this past weekend for the Annual Andy Shaw Memorial Softball Tournament. Rain, wind, sun, more rain and more wind was in the weather for the two day tournament. Kimball County Highway Superintendent Dave Hottell is set to resign as of July 1, with Randy Bymer as the replacement. Hottell is ready for less mental stress in the workplace, he told the Kimball County Commissioners in the their last regular board meeting June 18. "I am ready to be back in a grader. The superintend job puts a lot of mental stress on a guy and I am ready to be an operator once again," Hottell said. Changes are coming to grant programs within the City of Kimball. Changes include the Facade Grand Program and the Infrastructure Loan Program and one new program that was passed by City Council is a New Business Start Up Grant. Changes to the Façade Grant Program include: the cap was removed on the program, so grants will be given on a case-by-case basis with no cap on the project amount. Along with changes to the cap the match amount part of the grant has also been altered. It was 50/50 with a $4,000 cap and it now offers community...
An arrest warrant out of Laramie County, Wyoming, was issued for Jarred Michael Neuhalfen of Kimball. The warrant was issued on June 20 as a result of a “failure to appear” for an arraignment on three felony charges in Laramie County. The charges included aggravated burglary with a deadly weapon and two theft charges for more than $1,000. Bond of $3,000 has already been posted for Neuhalfen....
