The Community Action Partnership of Western Nebraska (CAPWN) is a non-profit community based health and human services organization that serves low income and disadvantaged persons who are unable to meet their own needs through other resources. On July 8, 2014, The High Point Welcome Center turned one year old. On Friday, July 11, the welcome center had its 10,000th visitor. In a mere year the welcome center has become a hub of activity and promotion for Kimball and the surrounding areas. Most recently the building that the welcome center operates out of was purchased as well as the 14 acres on which the building sits. Anita Mae Hilkemeier, 69, of Colorado Springs, went to be with the Lord on July 4, 2014. Anita was born on November 11, 1944 in Kimball, Nebraska to George and Doris (Scheele) Jackson. She graduated from Dix High School in Dix, Nebraska in May of 1962. Anita was employed by the United States Treasury Department and retired in 1999 after 37 years of service. She was then employed by Ecumenical Social Ministries for eight years. She was president and treasurer of her church, a Cub Scouts leader and a “newspaper folder extraordinaire.” She enj... The Potter-Dix Children's Theater will be putting on a production of "The Great American Duck Parade" Friday, July 18 at the American Legion Hall in Potter. The play centers around the character of Quincy, a grumpy old duck, who decides to make the Fourth of July tolerable for everyone at the duck pond and hosts an All-American Duck Parade. The 2014 fifth annual Vince's Corner ABCD Double Draw Golf Scramble is in the books with good weather for the most part although some golfers got a good soaking as they finished out their round on Sunday.
