Over the past seven years, the Nebraska Department of Education has developed standards in the content areas of English/language arts, mathematics and science, which are assessed statewide and required by statute. Although not required by law, fine arts, physical education, health education and world languages standards have also been developed. The Kimball County Commissioners met for their regular session Tuesday, receiving updates and information from a variety of county departments. While time allowed, the commissioners authorized a contract with Standard Appraisal Services for support in the assessment of property. The contract is for 15 days of assessment, but those days are not required to be used. Standard Appraisal Services is based on an hourly rate of $110 an hour. Kimball County Manor was awarded Yard of the Week for this week. After 17 months of COVID restrictions, the facility was needing a celebration. The manor experienced a facelift over a couple of weeks as 177 flowers and trees were planted in just five hours by employees and friends of the manor. Good morning Banner County! The combines and semis have been in and out and all over Harrisburg and Banner for the past week. We have been very fortunate with our weather so far and hopefully most wheat will be finished up soon. If anyone has the time Cheyenne Frontier Days is happening beginning on July 23, this Friday, and will continue through August 1st. Most of us have grown up going there for concerts, rodeos, exhibits and shopping over the years and missed it last year due to COVID....
Richard E Gardner, 95, of Pine Bluffs died peacefully on July 11, 2021 in the Torrington Hospital. Richard was born on July 19, 1925 to Myles and Ruth (Ernst) Gardner in Omaha, Nebraska. In 1944, he was drafted into the Navy, where he served before returning home to marry Mary Jean (Polly) Boyce on January 14, 1950. They were married 64 years and together had 5 children. In 1955, Richard, his father, and his brother, LeRoy formed Myles Gardner & Sons where they farmed and ranched together....
Donald Moench, age 67, of Potter, NE passed away Tuesday, July 13, 2021. A graveside service will be held at 4:00 P.M. Friday, July 23, 2021 in the Potter Cemetery Potter, NE. Kimball's fine miniature bull rider, Cody Brinkman, has already qualified for the finals at his level in Mesquite, Texas, in October. Cody has been busy this summer competing in events and learning from the best bull riders. Traveling to California and Oklahoma to fine-tune his skills, Cody worked with world champion bull rider Gary Leffew and David Berry.
