Crates of Toro sprinklers have arrived for the needed repairs at the Four Wind Golf Course. Course superintendent Jeremy Williams said they have begun installing the sprinklers on the top side of the fourth hole. Fairways were burned out in several areas after gravel plugged up old sprinkler heads. Roy's Landscaping is set to help complete the installation of the 200 sprinklers the week of August 8. The Nebraska State Patrol told the Western Nebraska Observer that it investigated a one vehicle, fatal accident on Highway 71 south of Kimball at 7 a.m. last Friday, July 27. The driven was identified as Daryl Scherbarth, 55, from Sidney. He was originally from Hay Springs, Sheridan County. He was headed south and lost control of his vehicle at Road 28, the patrol said. Unbelievable but August is here! Most of the wheat harvest was expected to be finished last week. Here are a few things to do if you have too much time on your hands this week, or just itchy feet! Around these parts, the Kimball-Banner County Fair and Rodeo runs Aug. 5-10 at the fairgrounds in Kimball, but some early activities already have been taking place. Dennis Dean Munoz received his heavenly wings in the early morning hours of February 1, 2024, at Kimball County Manor. After many years of ill health and chronic pain, Dennis was lifted into the arms of our loving Savior and is now rejoicing in glorious eternal life in Heaven. Kimball Longhorn head football coach Darrell Howitt said he was "super excited" for the season and said it is "always great to get on the field."
