    As Sam Fox criss-crossed the dirt roads leading to the Nebraska High Point, the 28-year old Rhode Island native said it looked like one giant party was ahead. It was.     The Kimball County Commissioners will evaluate Veterans Service Officer Shaun Evertson’s job performance at their Aug. 18 meeting. The commissioners unanimously voted to send a letter to Evertson and to members of the county veterans service committee to advise them that Evertson will undergo an employee evaluation at the meeting. The letter states the meeting is to “discuss job performance and recent actions of Shaun Evertson.” The letter will also request that Evertson be present for the meeting.     It has been a busy time for the Kimball Banner County Fair royalty. Kimball PRCA Rodeo Queen Paige Cross, 17, of Banner County, and Lacey Klinkhammer, 14, of Kimball, were chosen last September as the royalty for 2015.   • Little free libraries now open in Kimball, Banner counties

    Little free libraries are popping up all over the country, and the panhandle is no different. Jan Sears approached both the Kimball City Council and the Kimball County Commissioners seeking support in erecting one in the community. Since that time, at least two new little free libraries have been added in the Panhandle, including one in Banner County and one at Oliver Reservoir.   • Volunteers compile data for community litter index

    Volunteers were mildly satisfied with what they saw on a recent trip through the area to look at litter. The Litter Index is a tool designed by Keep America Beautiful and used across the nation to measure the amount of visible litter in a community, according to the website, www.bridgingthegap.org.     The Kimball Area APA Pool Leagues are now accepting team registrations for the upcoming session. Registration deadline is Tuesday, Aug. 25. Play begins in September and runs through December. There now are two certification options for both firearm and bowhunter education for each of two age groups.
