The Kimball-Banner County Fair got off to a quick start on Saturday with the archery competition and concluded with the Livestock Sale on Monday, Aug. 11. Between Saturday and Monday, about 150 4-H kids showed their skills in everything from baking cookies to showing swine. Heather Norberg, president of the Kimball School Board, called the regular school board meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 12, at the City Council Chambers. The Kimball-Banner County Fair was a great place to capture a couple of producers, find out how the harvest is progressing, and hear about the outlook on their other crops. Many were watching kids, grandkids or neighbors showing animals. Bushnell area producer Dave Schnell said they had a "good harvest." Douglas Alan Moench died July 29, 2019, at his home in Delta, CO, after a battle with throat cancer. He was born in 1946 in Sidney to John and Lorraine Moench and graduated from Potter High School. Breckyn Kiefer, the 8-year-old daughter of Wade and Brooke Kiefer of Kimball, is making a name for herself in the world of power tumbling. The Wise kids were earning more honors at a golf tournament held in North Platte a week back. Playing in the two day Junior Ambassadors Tournament, held at the Lake Maloney Rivers Edge Course in North Platte, Payton Wise finished third in her division with rounds of 94-89 and played some very good golf, according to her dad, despite having 11 unplayables and one out-of-bounds during the 94 round. A couple of Potter area athletes, Halsey Clark and Kailey Nicklas, represented themselves well at the recent Mike Trader's Mid-America Basketball Camp at Morrill High School. Clark was named Most Valuable Camper and an all-star in the Girls Major League.
