The Kimball County Commissioners fired Veterans Service Officer Shaun Evertson Tuesday after an almost hour-long closed session with members of the county's veterans service committee. In 1912, a Union Pacific Railroad engineer stationed in Cheyenne homesteaded 640 acres in Kimball County, just north and west of Bushnell. That man, Dave H. The 2015 wheat harvest began when the first load was delivered to the Kimball elevator July 13. The harvest lasted just short of a 30 days, according to Drew Biesecker from Frenchman Valley Cooperative. Summer school was a success, the Kimball Board of Education was told at its Aug. 10 meeting. Eight businesses passed the Nebraska State Patrol tobacco checks for the area that were held in July, the NSP announced this month. The NSP conducted the Synar checks in an effort to enforce laws prohibiting the sale or distribution of tobacco products to individuals under age 18 years. Officers with the assistance of youth under the age of 18 checked convenience stores, grocery stores and liquor stores throughout Kimball, Cheyenne and Scotts Bluff counties in July.
