At the Tuesday commissioner meeting, the Kimball County Commissioners voted to approve Kimball Police Chief Jose Ruiz’s request to use the former Kimball Health Services hospital for training purposes. The approval is for training on Aug. 28 that will focus on clearing buildings. Ruiz must provide a certificate of liability for the training to be conducted at the former hospital building, which is owned by the county and up for sale. The Keno Funds for the Feral Cat program this year have been exhausted in Kimball, but two individuals have stepped up to continue working to control the feral cat population in Kimball County in a humane way. Sherrie Stevenson and Dawn Hinton took 17 kitties/cats to be spayed/neutered at the Northern Colorado Friends of Feral clinic over the weekend. Last weekend at the Top Hand Longhorn Sale in Rapid City, S.D., Westen used his talking skills and chant to auction off a bred Longhorn heifer. Heather Entingh presents the final Yard of the Week for 2024 to Shelly and Norm Christiansen at 404 S. Howard. Shelly and Norm recently moved into a home that is a family heirloom, designed by her grandmother and built by her grandfather in 1950. The home was in need of remodeling and updating. We fondly remember Christopher (Chris) Harlen Christenson, who passed away July 12, 2024. Chris was born November 8, 1954 in Kimball, Nebraska to Harold (Chris) and Betty Christenson. Chris loved jokes, music, movies, making friends, most of all his family and he took pride in his nieces and nephews and his great nieces and nephews. Fall sports season has arrived for the Kimball Longhorns, Banner County Wildcats and Potter-Dix Coyotes. The grand parade, one of Bushnell Day 2024's many attractions, proceeds Saturday under a beautiful blue sky and the village's landmark water tower.
