    With a few months of the camping season under their belt, High Point RV Park, located just off the I-80 Kimball exit, celebrated with an open house on Saturday, Sept. 12. Owners John and Karen Morrison of Kimball purchased the property last fall. The old RV park with 32 camping sites had been vacant and for sale for the past 15 years.     The AmeriCorps Maple 50 team, which has been working in the Kimball area for the past month, suffered the loss of one of its team members, Andre Garcia. Jessica Rocha from the Visitors Center reported that Andre had a rapidly progressing medical condition that took his life. It was a non-COVID related viral infection. Reports indicated that he fell ill and was taken to Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff and eventually was transferred to Denver.     The Kimball School Board met Monday, Sept. 14, for a public hearing on the Property Tax Levy for 2020-21 and for the General Fund and Special Building Fund request. The board later conducted their regular meeting. Charts showing valuations, property tax request, property tax rate, state aid and the General Budget Fund were available to the board and public.   • County Taxes Nearly Level

    The Kimball County Commissioners conducted a public hearing to receive comment on the proposed Kimball County Budget and a public hearing for setting the Final Property Tax Request. By a 3-0 vote, the commissioners approved the tax request for $3,144,871 at their regular Tuesday meeting. The current levy is 0.449691 while the 2019-20 levy was 0.445032.   • Idaho Woman Dies In Banner County Accident

    A woman was killed in a Saturday evening rollover at 7:20 p.m. on Highway 71 in Banner County at mile marker 36. Although the crash is still under investigation, the Nebraska State Patrol reported that the vehicle was southbound and crossed the median and northbound lanes, and that the driver over-corrected and the vehicle rolled. The driver, 33-year-old Margaret Mathison from Idaho, was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger, Jody Morse, 31 from Louisiana, was taken to Regional West Medical Center....

    The Banner County Wildcats traveled to Crawford on Friday, Sept. 11.     It has been a slow start for Kimball’s Lady Longhorn Volleyball team, coming into last week without a win, and full slate of tough competitors ahead.
