    Kimball Public Schools have addressed the need for updates to the school buildings’ structures as well as some safety issues at the Sept. 8 board meeting.     A huge win came for the Kimball High School football team this past Friday night as they ran over the hosting Mitchell Tigers 45-6 to run their record to 2-1. Up next for Kimball is Chase County, which comes to Keith Staehr Stadium this Friday night. The Longhorns struck early and often as they jumped to a 42-0 lead by halftime and then pretty much turned the game over to the backups the second half.     Mitchell High School captured the top spots in both the girls and boys divisions of the Kimball High Cross Country Invitational on Friday as the Mitchell boys won the team title with 15 points thanks in large part to the one-two individual finish of Edward Grents and Chase Watson with respective times of 18:11 and 18:15 over the hilly 5K course at the Four Winds Golf Course.     It was another strong showing from Kimball High’s two senior golfers as both Jaycie Walker and Kallie Bush finished in the top 10 medal group at the Mitchell Invitational Girls Golf Tournament. The tournament was postponed one day until this past Friday due to bad weather conditions on Thursday. Walker shot 103 to finish seventh and Bush shot 108 to place ninth.     The Kimball High Volleyball teams are corning off a very busy week and after a 3-0 start, are now 6-3 on the season. "We just finished a very tough week of competition" said coach Vicki Mitchell.     The Kimball High School cross country team opened the 2014 season with perhaps its toughest competition of the entire season Sept. 5 at the Gering Invite. The Longhorns had to run with many of the large Class B Nebraska Schools along with some of the strong Wyoming schools, but it was a good opening test for coach Tiffany Johnson’s runners.
