    The story of Kenneth Lee Lockwood started and concluded in Kimball as he was laid to rest in the Kimball Cemetery in December 1944. But a new chapter is unfolding as a museum is researching the World War II era military accident that claimed his life.     A fire consumed a Kimball house owned by Terry Jefferson and rented by Luis (Beeb) Larez about 2:30 p.m. Sunday.The location of the fire was 308 ½ South Washington. Larez said the fire marshal told him it started in a plastic coffee container, which was used for cigarette butts on the porch. Larez, a non-smoker, had a friend staying with him who smoked.     A local motorcycle club has opted for volunteer work in the evening instead of riding their motorcycles. The club is in the process of restoring the horseshoe pits at Gotte Park just in time for Farmer's Day. The Red Knights Motorcycle Club, Kimball Chapter, has logged 20 plus hours in replacing sand, the pit edging, backer boards and they have installed new pipe post.     While wheat harvest has concluded for 2019, ag producers have not slowed down one bit. They still have wheat to seed, crops to tend to, and bean, beet, millet and corn harvest. Farming primarily in the northwestern and southern part of Kimball county, John Perry said they were about half done seeding their wheat.     The Kimball High football team made a long Friday night trip to Bartley pay off with a 42-0 win over the Southwest opponent in 8-man football action.     Kimball High hosted their annual Cross Country Invite this past Friday and attracted the largest field of runners ever, according to Kimball Activities Director Ken Smith. The final tally was 223 runners who enjoyed a near perfect afternoon with no wind, but maybe a bit too warm for some distance runners who prefer cooler weather.     Kimball sophomore Payton Wise picked up yet another medal, to add to her collection of hardware,at the Mitchell Invitational Golf Tournament held this past Thursday.
