    The fourth supplemental agreement between the City of Kimball and M.C. Schaff and Associates for preliminary engineering on the underpass project was approved at last month’s City Council meeting. According to City Administrator Dan Dean, the document amended the contract for the final underpass design. “Evidently, between the time lapse and the changes in the design, this is an increase in the contract,” he said.     Kimball County Commissioners accepted the resignation of Sheana Hendrickson from the Kimball County Veteran’s Service Office at their regular meeting, Tuesday, Sept. 19. With that resignation, VSO Bob Jenner will man the office Monday through Friday from 10 - 4 with lunch from 11:30-12:30 each day. Jenner gave the monthly report at this meeting, including the number of Veteran visits, 80, through the month. The average time spent with each Veteran was three to five hours.     Oscar Gustav (Butch) Linn, Jr. passed away at Bella Vista in Rapid city, SD on September 22, 2017. He passed away from complications with Alzheimer's. Butch was born February 23, 1928 in Kimball, Nebraska to Oscar G Linn, Sr. and Ruby Mae (Neely) Linn. He was united in marriage to Ruth Karen Hagstrom on June 20, 1948. He served in the Army from March 20th, 1952 to February 20th, 1954 and in the reserves until March 19, 1960. One of the happiest days for their marriage was the day they were able...

    I recently had to have 6 weeks of twice a day IV antibiotics. I chose to have this done at the Kimball hospital. I have nothing but kind words to say for the entire nursing staff for helping me through this. They made this experience much more tolerable than it could have been. They answered the many questions I had and would make sure I was comfortable while the IV was being administered.     The season goals are being reached. Kimball Girls Golf had two tournaments this past week, the first one was Tuesday, Sept. 19 in Ogallala.     The Lady Longhorns faced two big losses last week, one at home and one on the road. The first loss last week came at home when Kimball faced Hershey. The Lady Longhorns lost the first set 25-12, the second set with a closer score of 25-23 and also lost the third set 25-21, for a 3-0 win for the Panthers.     Kimball Junior High Volleyball was in action, against Sidney on Monday, Sept. 11, and against Leyton and Banner County in a triangular matchup on Thursday, Sept. 14. The 8th grade girls A team vs. Sidney ended in a loss in two sets, 7-25 and 17-25. Annissa Kizzair and Peyton Wise scored 4 points each. The B team did not fare much better with a loss in three sets, 21-25, 16-25 and 15-10. The forerunner of this game was certainly Grace Murdoch, who scored 12 points.     Kimball Cross Country runners were busy again last Thursday Sept. 21, in Ogallala, Junior Varsity and Varsity ran together. There was a total of 166 runners just in the boys race. For the High School boys Garrett Pedersen had a time of 21:18, followed by Kaden Adrian with 21:30, Nicholas Thomas-Lewis had a time of 22:02, Brady Kilgore 23:05, Cole Henton followed with a time of 24:37, Jordan Cluff with a time of 26:58 and Alexander Flores 27:25.
