    Daria Anderson-Faden, The Observer|Oct 28, 2021

When the Kimball City Council meeting was all said and done Oct. 19, a year and a half after former city administrator Dan Dean retired, the City of Kimball had a new city administrator, Annette Brower. Brower's city employment began in March 2018, as city treasurer and deputy clerk. Then, in January 2021, she began doing both city clerk/city treasurer duties, rounding out her experience in Kimball city government. From May 2020 to January 2021, Brower served as interim City Utilities Administrator, and now she is the Kimball city...

  • Fuel & Oil Tanks Under Dollar Tree Site

    Daria Anderson-Faden, The Observer|Oct 28, 2021

The Kimball City Council last week discussed and approved a $10,000 Economic Development Demolition and Reclamation Grant for KIM5 LLC, also known as Family Dollar/Dollar Tree. In its grant proposal, KIM5 LLC reported that it “will build-brand (a) new 10,500 square foot retail building for a combo store. We are on a very tight timeline to deliver the building, so we have started the tank removal process. Finding fuel in the tanks has increased the cost and delayed the project.” They began the project on Oct. 5, and want to have it com...

  • THE CAT PLAN

    Oct 28, 2021

A reader recently wrote in to the Observer with this question: Why did the Kimball City Council not support Tiffany LaBeau for her human solution to the feral cat problem? That's an excellent question, and it was somewhat confusing at an earlier meeting. At the Oct. 5 City Council meeting, Tiffany LaBeau was on the agenda to seek resources to start a program in which feral cats would be caught, spayed or neutered, and then released. Before the meeting, it was suggested that she request Keno...

  • A Lofty Artistic Venture In Potter

    Daria Anderson-Faden, The Observer|Oct 28, 2021

"Be the person you needed when you were little" is the motto of Jennifer Thomas at the Potter Art Loft. Jennifer had wished she had had a creative spot to go to when she was little, and now area children have that creative outlet. Some years ago, a professional artist had a studio above the Collective Gathering in Potter. When the area was vacated, Thomas decided that would be a perfect spot for a community art space. Before the pandemic, she taught all day, then opened the art loft for kids to...

  • Coyotes 8-0 Entering Postseason

    Mike Motz, The Observer|Oct 28, 2021

Potter-Dix's Coyote football team finished out its regular season with an 80-16 rout over Creek Valley, earning its second straight D6-6 title and undefeated regular season. The Coyotes' swarming defense held Creek Valley to minus-27 yards rushing while forcing four turnovers. The Creek Valley Storm, fresh from an inspirational win over South Platte last week, simply did not have the manpower to keep up with Potter-Dix, as they only dressed nine players for the game. The Coyotes again scored...
