The Kimball County Sheriff’s Office last week arrested four people in three days on drug charges. On Nov. 19, as a result of a bond search, Chalkie Langley, 62 and Amanda Joy, 49, both residing in Dix, were arrested. According to the affidavit, a search was conducted at 106-108 Pine St. in Dix, and officers located in Chalkie’s bedroom a “bag that was vacuum sealed with a large amount of white powdery crystal substance along with several needles.” The substance tested positive for meth, according to court records. For the second year in a row, the Kimball Food Pantry was the real winner at the Kimball Jr/Sr High School Supermarket Sweep contest on Friday. Eight teams composed of two shoppers each scoured the Main Street Market for 70 specific, high-demand items ranging from 3 pounds of Joyfully Grown Gala Apples to Little Debbie Cosmic Brownies in a 13.1 ounce package. Santa's Helpers decorate light poles Friday along the downtown streets of Kimball. Spiffing up the poles are Charlotta Young, Sharon Williams and Pat Perry. The City of Kimball has announced that Burg Street will be closed between 1st Street and the alleyway adjacent to the City Electric Shop for construction equipment staging for the power generation plant. The closure began late evening on Thursday, November 21, and will remain closed until further notice. The Kimball Ministerial Association Thanksgiving Praise Gathering crowd was treated to some beautiful musical selection by the Trinity Methodist Church Bell Choir and the Cornerstone Community Church Quartet.
