The Kimball Board of Education meeting Monday touched on the use of funding for the benefit of the district. The district was audited by Rauner & Associates. The Dec. 2 Kimball City Council meeting brought in a new mayor and council members while other said their farewells. The meeting was called to order by then-Mayor James Schnell. Schnell presented an award to City Councilwoman Ann Warner in appreciation for her eight years on the council. Warner did not run for re-election in the November election. Kimball County Commissioner Larry Brower was honored at the Dec. 2 meeting. Brower was awarded a plaque for his 20 years of service. Kimball County Highway Superintendent Dave Hottell asked the commissioners if they had heard any complaints about the roads. “I feel like we’ve been handling things all right and I just want to make sure we aren’t overlooking something because we just don’t know about it,” Hottell said. The Kimball High Wrestling Team got the season underway at a dual meet in Bayard this past Thursday and travelled to Akron, Colorado on Saturday to take part in the Chuck Annand Tournament Bayard won out 48-15 in the dual competition picking up points in several weight classes where Kimball was open. The Kimball Lady Longhorns fell to a very good Dundy County-Stratton team 70-51 in first round play, but came back to win 51-13 over McPherson County to capture third place honors at the Kimball Tournament this past weekend. Dundy County went on to defeat Morrill 74-36 in the championship game after Morrill won over McPherson County 42-11 in first round play. The Potter-Dix girls basketball team opened its season last Friday with a 49-39 win against Sedgwick County (Colo.). The Lady Coyotes overcame a 10-4 first quarter deficit en route to the win.
