The vaccine has arrived and, according to Kim Engel, director of Panhandle Public Health District, Phase 1a should move along “pretty quickly.” Engel told the Observer on Tuesday afternoon that they were just receiving the vaccine at that moment. Third- and fouth- grade Kimball boys split a couple of games during recent action in the Sidney Community Center League. The boys, who have been competing well, beat Sidney Black, 16-4, and lost to Sidney Red, 5-1. In Kimball's victory, Cooper Kasten scored 8 points, Lucas Tabor 4, Jacob Buento 2 and Kolt Hottell 2. The Kimball City Council year end meeting saw the departure of long-time council member James Shields and the installation of previous Councilwoman Kim Baliman and newly elected Councilman Gabe Ingram. The City of Kimball continues to look for a city administrator and now will also be looking for a city clerk, as Katherine Terrill's resignation was accepted at the meeting. The council will be ready to tackle a new year as the housekeeping business was tended to at the December meeting....
Santa arrived early in Bushnell, last Saturday, to hand out gift bags of food to some special individuals. This event is sponsored by the Bushnell Fire Department, the Bushnell Firebells and the Bushnell Lions Club. The City of Kimball offices and the Kimball Landfill will close early in observance of the Christmas Holiday on Thursday, December 24 at noon and will be closed on Friday, December 25. The Kimball Landfill will also be closed on Saturday, December 26. The Kimball Public Library will close early on Thursday December 24 at 4 p.m. and will be closed Friday and Saturday, December 25 and 26 in observance of the Christmas holiday. Almost a year ago, a 15 year-old Mattie Debord from Virginia came to western Nebraska to pick up a weanling from Jo and Roger Timmerman. Timmermans had donated the young filly to the American Quarter Horse Association Ranching Heritage Young Horse Development Program and Mattie was one of 44 participants, Mattie received the Timmermans horse to train and own. Jerry and Sharon Williams’ residence at 709 Marian is a popular place around the Christmas season. Jerry said, “We try to do different things every year, I have already thought about what I want to do next year”. In anticipation of next season, Jerry has purchased 400-500 additional lights for their decorating project. Every year he adds a “few” more lights. Shortly before 3:30 p.m. on a windy Sunday afternoon, the Kimball Volunteer Fire Department and Bushnell Fire Department were called out to Byron and Amber Wilke's place about 10 miles west of Kimball where ground hay caught fire shortly after being ground. By 9 p.m. the fire was out and the firemen returned home. Byron said that he had just completed grinding about 60 bales of hay and was preparing to go to another pile to grind more hay when the fire started. They lost about 60 bales of ground...

Joyce D. Evans, age 70, of Sun City, Arizona, passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2020 in Sun City, Arizona. She was born on December 9, 1950 to the late Fred and Anna (Hamilton) Cox in Bridgeport, Texas. Joyce attended Kimball High School, graduating class of 1969. On April 24, 1971 she married Delbert Evans Sr. in Kimball, Nebraska. She resided in Fort Morgan, Colorado for more than 30 years. Potter-Dix’s Lady Coyotes basketball team dropped a contest to the visiting Leyton Lady Warriors last Friday in a rescheduled and shortened evening of hoops since the boys game was cancelled due to COVID concerns.
