He was the only son born to his Hunkpapa Sioux parents and the source of considerable pride for them. It was an honor for his parents to have been blessed by the birth of a son and he would continue to bring honor to his parents and himself in later years as well. He would become a mighty hunter, a great warrior, respected holy man and a revered leader of his people. It was the year 1831, the Winter-when-Yellow-Eyes-Played-in-the Snow, in March, the Moon-of-the-Popping-Trees, that the boy came quietly into this world. The lodge, where he was...

One Year Ago December 2011 Potter-Dix earned fourth place in last week’s state one-act competition, held in Kearney. “It was a good competition and we gave our best performance ever,” said the cast’s coach, Beth Bogert. Indeed, only two points separated Potter-Dix and their production of “Messiah on the Frigid- aire” from third place Wausa. The historic amendment states clearly and concisely that; “Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to t...

Sort of like wanting my cake and eating it too! I also still have a few things that need taken care of outside that the good old wind has kept me from getting finished. Maybe this week. Personally, I think part of that is the fact that the economic part of the holiday...
