    Thirteen-year-old Clarika Hottell was the only young lady to ride the mini bulls. She climbed aboard a bull name Brown Bomber and rode him for a few bucks although she didn't make the 6 seconds.     Kimball Health Services acquired the Best Plumbing, Heating and Cooling building just to the east of the site of what will become the new Kimball hospital. On Aug. 1, Kimball County Hospital dba Kimball Health Services purchased Best Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling Lots 9, 10, 11 and 12, Block 1, Clarkson's Addition to the City of Kimball, for the purchase price of $300,000.     The City of Kimball Water Department said it planned to conduct routine maintenance on the water tank on Thursday, August 11. Due to the process, there may possibly be a small residual chlorine taste and/or smell for approximately one week.   • Kimball Airport Runway Getting 280-Day Break, Facelift

    The Kimball Airport runway will soon be closed for 280 days. During those 280 days, the 6,199 feet of the only runway will be getting a facelift. The runway and taxiway will be closed, however the helipad will remain open. According to Ryan McElroy, the chair of the Kimball Municipal Airport Authority Board, the runway will get a 6-inch overlay of concrete, which will be the full length of the runway and 75 feet wide.     Bushnell Volunteer Fire Chief Klent Schnell explained the process that the fire department personnel used to secure a $5,000 grant for the fire department from Plains All-American. No one knew that before the time capsule would be opened in 2025, elementary classes would be moved out of West Elementary and the building would be sold to Kimball Health Services.     Kimball County Tourism Director Jessica Rocha submitted her resignation to the Kimball County Commissioners at the August 2 regular county board meeting.
