    Kimball’s Dead Eye Shooter Julia Winstrom competed in the 2022 National Three-Position Air Rifle Championship in Camp Perry, Michigan, last week. Julia placed 20th out of 122 shooters on Friday in the National Junior Olympics 3 PAR Championship. Twenty shots are taken in each position for each match using electronic targets. Then on Saturday, Julia outdid herself while competing in the CMP 3PAR National Championship. After qualifying, Julia shot a 552 and was ranked No. 5 in her age bracket. Julia made finals.     Father's Day Classic chairman Randy Bohac said, "It was a fabulous weekend." The field of golfers at Four Winds ranged from 8-year-old Graham Braash to two men in their mid-80s. Bohac stressed that it is a family-oriented event and he said "those that played with their Dads are pretty lucky." Bohac is quick to praise all that helped make the tournament run efficiently.     Kimball Women’s Golf has started its season, and three weeks of golf have been played, with June 15 the fourth week. President of the league, Charlotta Young, has been instrumental in acquiring additional teams and many subs. Twelve teams now play on Wednesday evenings, so there will be 12 weeks of women’s golf along with the horse race and battle of the sexes.     The Kimball Longhorns trap team continues to be active in anticipation of trips to state and nationals. This Saturday, 26 Kimball individuals will shoot for state scores along with eight shooters from Potter. They will each shoot 100 rounds. The teams will shoot in Sidney and then submit scores to be calculated with the other teams in the state.     On Tuesday morning, Oliver Lake was stocked with 12,000 walleye and 1,500 tiger muskie from the Nebraska Game and Parks in less than an hour. Ted Bartels from the Nebraska Game and Parks brought his load from the North Platte Hatchery and delivered fish to Oliver, Winter Creek, Minatare and Big Lake Alice.     The Kimball boys basketball program participated in this summers 2022 Bridgeport Boys Team Camp June 1st and 2nd. There were 22 high schools from 4 different states competing in JV and Varsity divisions. Teams from Custer SD, Sturgis SD, Gillette WY, Lusk WY, Strasburg CO, Fleming CO, McClave CO, Ainsworth NE, and other area schools were there and we got to experience some really good basketball.     The annual Wyoming-Nebraska 6-Man Shoot Out All-Star game was played on Friday in Chadron, and the Wyoming squad was able to outlast the Nebraska team in the highest scoring contest of the 11-game series. Potter-Dix’s Thomas Muldoon was a defensive standout during the game, recording many tackles and pass disruptions. He also was used on kickoffs and as a receiver.     Lake Mahoney Golf Course in North Platte was the site of the Class D state golf championship, where Kimball’s freshman Kyler Lusche placed 14th in a field of 94 top golfers in Class D. Kyler told the Observer that the course is straight and easy with no water. With a little bit of nerves on the first few holes, Lusche shot a 81 on Day 1, which put him in sixth place.     The City of Kimball Public Swimming Pool opens noon Friday, weather permitting, for adult lap swimming and water walking, and the first open swim of the season follows an hour later.     In conference shooting the top three individuals medaled, Jarrett Schutz climbed into third place in the male division and Kambree Hottell placed third in the female division.     Potter-Dix’s Coyote track and field team traveled to Burke stadium in Omaha late last week to compete in the NSAA State Championship Meet. For the boys, senior Thomas Muldoon placed seventh in the 800 meters and eighth in the high jump, the Coyote’s best showing. Senior Niko Koon placed 22nd in the discus.     On Thursday, freshman Kyler Lusche was just getting warmed up for Monday's District golf meet. At the Kimball Invite on Thursday, Lusche shot a 77 for second place on the Four Winds course, but he outdid himself on Monday shooting a 75 and nabbing first place. Zaybreon Hansen from Perkins County placed second with a 78. Hemingford's Dax Powell was third with an 82.
