The Kimball girls golf has been busy with four meets already completed by Thursday this week. Last week, Kimball competed in Sidney and Bayard. Tuesday they were at home in Kimball, and Thursday was a date at Creek Valley. Potter-Dix's Coyote football team opened its season on the road Friday afternoon and took the first step towards another D6 playoff berth with an overwhelming 85-6 victory over the Minatare Indians. Young Kimball basketball players Braxton Miller and MacKenzie Miller recently participated in Mike Trader's Mid-America Basketball Camp and earned multiple awards. The camp ran July 17-20 at Central Community College in Columbus. After being stepped on by a bull and suffering a broken femur (thigh bone) in January, River Mossberg staged a comeback and received a winning score of 87 on his ride at Pine Bluffs Trail Days Rodeo. His dad, former Kimball County Commissioner Brandon Mossberg, said River has "only been on a handful of bulls since" his accident. The Kimball cheer team competed in a camp in Fort Collins, Colo., from July 8-10 – and the squad came home with some top hardware. Kimball High School junior Julia Winstrom finished her third air rifle compeition this summer. On July 21-23, Julia completed in the 2022 American Legion 3-Position Junior Air Rifle Championship at the USA Shooting range facility in Colorado Spring, Colo. Last week from July 6-8 we held our second annual Kimball Longhorns Youth Basketball Camp at the high school and had a lot of fun working with the young athletes. This year we had a total 55 participants who took advantage of this camp, ranging from incoming first-graders to eighth-graders.
