  • Kimball 7-12 As Postseason Nears

Jaclyn Burks, Lady Longhorns Basketball Coach|Feb 10, 2022

We traveled to Gordon for WTC first round action in a game against Gordon-Rushville. We had a solid game plan going into this game but unfortunately we could not convert our shots and lost 50-20. My girls did everything I asked of them but we really struggled to put the ball through the hoop, Gordon is a great team, and they don't miss often. Our defense did a great job rotating but when offense isn't flowing well, it's hard to keep pace with a good team. Here are our statistics from the game:...

Potter-Dix's Coyote basketball season continued on its winning ways with two more victories over the week to move the season record to 15-2. On Thursday, the Coyotes matched up at home with the Garden County Eagles, and a relatively tight contest had Potter-Dix leading 22-20 at the end of the first half. The third quarter was dominated by the defenses as both teams struggled to score. The scoring picked up in the fourth quarter, and Potter-Dix was able to build upon their lead and take the...

The first quarter saw us trying to put pressure in the full court to capitalize on steals and turnovers for quick transition points....

Potter-Dix's Coyote Boy's Basketball team entered the MAC Tournament as the number one seed and played like it, easily dispatching Banner County in the first round of the tournament then having little trouble with Garden County in the semi-finals, then winning a thriller against Bayard in the finals. The action started Monday January 17 when the Coyotes matched up with number 8 seed Banner County, and the winless Wildcats had no answer for the explosive Potter-Dix offense, going down 27-4 at...

    Mike Motz, The Observer|Jan 20, 2022

Kimball's Lady Longhorn basketball team travelled last Tuesday to take on the Potter-Dix Lady Coyotes in Potter, and quickly broke out to a big lead in the early going. Both teams had problems getting the ball in the basket in the early going, but for Kimball it was shots not falling through the basket and for Potter-Dix it was an inability to get the ball past half court. The tough Lady Longhorns defense stymied the Lady Coyotes offense early, and then in the final minutes of the first period...

Kimball's Lady Longhorns basketball team returned from the holiday break on Tuesday, January 4, traveling to Big Springs to match up against the Lady Blue Knights. The contest started as a defensive showdown, with both teams doing their best to limit good looks and easy baskets by the other team. However, the next 7:50 of the second quarter and into the first six minutes of the third quarter saw the team go on a scoring drought and were outscored 35-2 in that stretch. Potter-Dix’s Coyotes basketball team had three games over the past week, and lost their first game of the season to Bayard on Friday. The week’s action started on Monday, January 3, when the Coyotes hosted the Morrill Lions. The Coyotes took a lead early, and even after Morrill rebounded with a solid second quarter, the Coyotes still had a 28-21 lead at the half. Both teams played a solid third period on offense and defense, both scoring 17 points. But Caliche was not able to score enough to stem the tide, and the...

    Mike Motz, The Observer|Dec 23, 2021

Kimball's Lady Longhorns basketball team has had some success in the early going of the 2021-22 season, and hoped it could finish with a win in the final game of the calendar year and go into the new year with a winning record. But Kimball will have to settle for a 3-3 record through December, as Friday's road matchup with undefeated Hershey did not go Kimball's way. The game started very close with both teams playing aggressive defense and limiting offensive opportunities. The low-scoring...
