Last Tuesday, we traveled to Pine and as expected, it was a physical battle. We lost 55-34 but continued to show good defense throughout the game. The girls definitely showed their conditioning level as we had to go into full court man defense to try to dig out of a bad 3rd quarter showing. They fought hard but it was not enough to bring home the win. Potter-Dix's Coyote Boys Basketball team has had very few bumps in the road during this season, but hit one on Friday night when they hosted the 19-and-1 Hyannis Longhorns in Potter. In one of the strangest starts to a game for two high-scoring teams, the defenses shut down any scoring by the teams, with just one lone point via free throw on the board for Potter-Dix until Hyannis scored a filed goal with 3:35 left in the first period to move the score to 2-to-1. A relative flurry of scoring happened in final three minutes of the half, and the...
Potter-Dix's Lady Coyote basketball team has struggled through most of the season, but has shown continuous improvement and has battled hard against their opponents. On Friday, the Lady Longhorns of Hyannis came for a visit, and the game was a battle the whole way. After trailing most of the way, the Lady Coyotes were able to get within three at 30-to-27 in the final minutes of the third quarter. However, the Lady Coyote offense stalled and ended the period down by four at 33-to-29. The Lady...

We traveled to Gordon for WTC first round action in a game against Gordon-Rushville. We had a solid game plan going into this game but unfortunately we could not convert our shots and lost 50-20. My girls did everything I asked of them but we really struggled to put the ball through the hoop, Gordon is a great team, and they don't miss often. Our defense did a great job rotating but when offense isn't flowing well, it's hard to keep pace with a good team. Here are our statistics from the game:...
Potter-Dix's Coyote basketball season continued on its winning ways with two more victories over the week to move the season record to 15-2. On Thursday, the Coyotes matched up at home with the Garden County Eagles, and a relatively tight contest had Potter-Dix leading 22-20 at the end of the first half. The third quarter was dominated by the defenses as both teams struggled to score. The scoring picked up in the fourth quarter, and Potter-Dix was able to build upon their lead and take the...

Kimball 57, Banner County 34 JAN 27 First game back from the SPVA conference tournament where the boys played well we were looking to continue that momentum going into our 3 game stretch this week. Banner County was our first opponent on Thursday and even though they have some size, they are a young team like ours and looking to continue to grow their program. The first quarter saw us trying to put pressure in the full court to capitalize on steals and turnovers for quick transition points....

Potter-Dix basketball resumed play after the MAC Tournament, with the girls matching up against Prairie in New Raymer, Colo., on Tuesday and both the boys and girls teams matching up with Minatare on Saturday. James pinned an opponent from Hay Springs to win first place. Trey Schindler continued his...
Potter-Dix's Coyote Boy's Basketball team entered the MAC Tournament as the number one seed and played like it, easily dispatching Banner County in the first round of the tournament then having little trouble with Garden County in the semi-finals, then winning a thriller against Bayard in the finals. The action started Monday January 17 when the Coyotes matched up with number 8 seed Banner County, and the winless Wildcats had no answer for the explosive Potter-Dix offense, going down 27-4 at...
Chase County 55, Kimball 21 SPVA First Round Our girls had an eventful week. We played Chase County the beginning of the week and the score did not reflect the level of play we showed. Kimball's Lady Longhorn basketball team travelled last Tuesday to take on the Potter-Dix Lady Coyotes in Potter, and quickly broke out to a big lead in the early going. Both teams had problems getting the ball in the basket in the early going, but for Kimball it was shots not falling through the basket and for Potter-Dix it was an inability to get the ball past half court. The tough Lady Longhorns defense stymied the Lady Coyotes offense early, and then in the final minutes of the first period... Full story

Kimball's Lady Longhorns basketball team returned from the holiday break on Tuesday, January 4, traveling to Big Springs to match up against the Lady Blue Knights. The contest started as a defensive showdown, with both teams doing their best to limit good looks and easy baskets by the other team. But the South Platte girls were more successful in the first half, getting their shots to fall and taking advantage of Kimball miscues to build a 24-15 lead at the half. South Platte put the game away...
Chase County 75, Kimball 25 The Saturday, Jan. 8, game saw a young Kimball Longhorn team come out and get a few early baskets but were not able to keep pace with the Chase County Longhorns. However, the next 7:50 of the second quarter and into the first six minutes of the third quarter saw the team go on a scoring drought and were outscored 35-2 in that stretch.
